FOAK: Laptop memory

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot, Apr 25, 2006.

  1. This here laptop, a Toshiba Satellite 2410-603, has but 256Mb of PC2100S
266Mhz DDR RAM in it. Would any module of the same specification work in it?
There's loads on eBay but none by the same manufacturer.

At two years old you should be alright. Try to buy something with a brand.
Infineon, Hynix, Kinston or Crucial spring to mind. The no brand stuff is
cheap and I have had a lot of problems with such stuff in the past on
    various systems.

  7. Yes, ta, I've already done that but it conflicts with the manual in that
Crucial say it can take up to 1Gb of PC2700 and Toshiba reckon only 512Mb of
PC2100. Perhaps PC2700 wasn't available when the laptop was made but the
    max. capacity difference concerns me.

Should do. I'm about to list a 256MB SODIMM(PC2-4200) that came in my new
    laptop which I upgraded. I think it's a 200pin.

I ordered over the phone from Crucial and they were really helpful. They
also knocked the postage costs down, then added a quid for CC charge.

Don't piss about buying memory on ebay - go here
    http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/lis...abid=AM&model=Satellite+2410+Series&submit=Go

You will find it is about the same price (or better) than ebay and you will
get a guarantee that it will work and a guarantee against failure.
