FOAK news server question

Hello

Today I finally went broadband. Everything was going smoothly and I can even
read my old email messages.

But I can't read this group on broadband. I'm joined to Tiscali broadband. I
have a Tiscali dial-up account that I'm using at the moment. I am logged on
to news.tiscali.co.uk.

How do I get to this newsgroup on my new broadband connection?

A search in Google Groups for 'cheesy server' may throw up something
useful.

Try again after midnight, when Tiscalis "fair usage policy" allows access to
usenet.

The cheesy server is your friend, on a secure port.

 

Tiscali throttles nntp traffic now, and so do the ISPs that it owns.

Like Pipex. Which is why I, and others here present on this ng, who used
to be with Pipex, have jumped ship.

You can get to ukrm via Tiscali in the middle of the night, and first
thing in the morning, but at peak times, forget it.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but if there is a cooling-off
time in your contract I would exercise it and quit Tiscali now.

(Oh, they block bittorrent stuff too)

 

Was a problem a while back, but is no longer noticeable to me.

If they do, they're not very good at it.
