Just worked out J's, which just about tips it, including 20% bonus.

    Which is nice.

  4. I can agree with that and had loads of fun up till I was fifty but then
I found work was getting in the way of having more fun so the work had
    to go.

  6. Sounds like a good plan.

I started retirement at 50 but was having a lot of fun with some of my
work and kept that on till 55. As I was self employed or running my own
company from 30 onwards I had to earn my own retirement fund. This meant
'having a plan' which would enable me to fund it. Hence my comments
    earlier.

It took you until 50 to work that out? Work's been getting in the way of
my fun since I was 30.

  8. OK the original plan was to retire at 40 but some bastard embezzled me
and my business partner out of a sh*t load of money. The accountant went
to jail, the bank disowned the manager and his collusion. (The banks
address in its name was part of it limited name so the global bank name
said bugger off) And the perpetrator disappeared.

So I had to start again and delay it to 50. But I've been making up for
    it.

I went through Dublin recently and was shocked by our lack of purchasing
power. Isn't going to help with ski holidays. I suspect a policy of
bringing the pound down to 1:1 with the Euro then they chop us into the Euro
zone. We will be utterly fucked for hols.

you could always go to yankland.

miami, the new cancun! laugh as you spit at their worthless local currency,
dump barrowloads of terabuck notes in the gutter for the fun of seeing the
filthy natives scrabbling around in the dirt for them!

Remember the bad old days of the early-mid '90s? Back then you were
lucky to get 7 FFr to the pound - current levels, while worse than
they have been since the Euro came in, are still equivalent to around
9 FFr /pound, so although the "Pound hits all-time-low" headlines are
true, they tend to leave the subtext "against the Euro" without
    further explanation.

And they're only a little bit worse than they were in 2003.
Yeah, yeah. Go and join Mick under his tree hiding from the black
    helicopters.
Tough. Stay at home then, see if we care.

  13. I wondered about that when they made the pound coin look similar to the
Euro. OK one thinner than the other. Getting us used to it?
If it's this Mick, what brought that on?
Or do the Caribbean or US. The currencies follow the dollar.

You mean the £2 coin looking like the 2 euro coin, right? Cos the pound
coin's been around since 1983, 19 years before the Euro coin was
introduced, and doesn't look anything like the 1 euro coin.

    - we demand our right to be thicker!
    - no we don't, that is precisely what we don't demand.
    - we don't demand to be thicker. what we demand is a total absence of
    thickness!

  17. Did you get the bastard in the end?

    I didn't.

Wondered if it was worth putting a contract out on him, to find him and
administer some pain, but decided that would be throwing good money
    after bad.

  19. Your 100% right I was thinking of the FF. I haven't used Euros for
nearly a year now. Um? Fuerteventura in Feb 2007 Tenerife Dec 2006
everywhere else last year has been a non Euro zone.
