The wiki looks easier to understand than the RFC
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-mail_address (if it's correct). According
to that the ' character is allowed. I think some servers do struggle
with it though (Notes/Domino used to IIRC)

You can also have an email address in the form "blah blah
    blah"@domainname - I didn't know that.

According to Wikipedia: allowable characters are for the local part of
    the e-mail address are:

    # Uppercase and lowercase English letters (a-z, A-Z)
    # Digits 0 through 9
    # Characters ! # $ % & ' * + - / = ? ^ _ ` { | } ~

  4. Sigh. I can remember the days when ! was reserved for UUCP
bang-pathing. And when the % character was used for routing too..

    I think I'm getting old.

I remember when having p@ly as an email address used to **** things up a
    bit.

The problem is that you'll have no end of difficulty with people's
brain-dead implementations of email address verification on web forms
and the like. Which might be a feature, not a bug, depending on your
    state of mind.

What are you paid to appear to care about now?

  9. Yep, I believe it's a valid character, but personally I'd avoid it.
