    Anyone got a recommendation?

I need to get a title deed changed from a joint name to a single and I :
    a) want it to happen quickly
    b) really don't want to unncessarily spend loads of money on it .

Therefore if we have any tame solicitors/know of any that might like doing
someone they don't know and share only the vaguest things in common with a
    favour, I would appreciate it.

    Email address is valid.

(Note this favour isn't a freebie - i just want to pay a reasonable price
and not take months to have anything happen).

Don't you usually have to go through the mortgage company for this kind
    of thing?

    Nope.

    Paraphrase :
"We agree that you can take over the mortgage on a sole basis. You now need
to provide us with your solicitors details so we can release the information
they will need to them. No we cannot recommend a solicitor for you to use".

Didn't think it mattered. The so called "common-law" wife/husband
    apparently has no legal standing.

I'd recommend the services of a Ducati crashing former poster to the
    group.

He might not be the cheapest out there, but he's good.

Based in Aylesbury, so not too far from you either.

If this is something a conveyancer can do, I can recommend Ducati-riding
    Adrian, formerly of this parish

for a "thick as pigshit" tracker, it's a lot easier if you run a
    white-list[1] rather than a black-list.

[1] it barely gets into double figures.

I hope it is a lot simpler for you than it has been for me.

My solicitor in Bicester is a jolly decent chap, and has always been very
    reasonable.

Email or bell me if you need the details.

This is (so far) a relatively amicable split.

We've agreed how we're doing it. We've agreed what we're getting out of it.

So, so far, there are no reasons why it shouldn't take any longer than the
paperwork and mail trail will take.

If we end up at each throats before she moves out (always a possiblity) it
might change - but to be honest she's getting a pretty good deal out of this
(I'm too soft/fair whatever) so no real reason I can see why it wouldn't go
    smoothly.

    because
    (a) women are pure concentrated evil
    (b) all her friends and her solicitor are telling her you're a nob-end
she'll never see again who deserves to get treated like a free cash
    machine for her time.
