Fortuately not in my case, but I've seen that smiling angel with
fairness in her heart turn to medusa with her eyes on the prize with
    too many friends.

She's wasted a chunk of her life and youthful beauty on you, and
she'll want compensation. And it ain't cheap.

Batten down the hatches. Trust me (tm)

   )

    What a bunch of crap.

I've been with the same woman since 1983 FFS, and whilst she may have her
faults they're nothing compared to mine.

Just keep things on an even keel, give a bit, take a bit and all will work
    out ok I'm sure.

When I got divorced we just used the one lawyer to take the thing
through court and document our mutual agreement on division of assets
(negative, mainly). We remained friends, although I've not been in
touch for a couple of years.

I'd watch telling her that - she might start believing that ;-)

    Didn't do enough of this.
Still deciding what I will view as ok. It varies by day :)

Tis a bit hard to maintain this at all times - intentions not with standing.

Heh, after 19 years of marriage, where the **** else is she gonna go? [1]
Not necessarily, just because you were a decent chap doesn't mean you gace
    too much.
You have been reading too much UKRM I see.
Keep a level head, don't let anyone be able to accuse you of being a ****
    without any proof.>

[1] She's out tonight (as if you hadn't already guessed) at an Indian Elvis

Kill the next girlfriend as soon as you fall in love with her. OK, so
you'll get 20 years inside a high security prison, but even that's
cheaper, quicker and less hassle than living with them then going
    through a divorce.

Rule 109. Dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack.

I'm sure there's more than one way to interpret that, but my mind just
won't work at the moment. I hate colds.

    Good point.

In fact, having done a bottle of wine when I posted my comments, I am now
not entirely sure what my point was either.

I guess what I was trying to convey was that not all women are complete
harridans or evil bitches. Hopefully Dan's ex won't turn out to be one.

No, they aren't - and I do think a lot of the reason why things really go
sore is to do with how both parties act during the event.
I know I'm annoying her at the moment because I'm being damp about it all -
so I'm planning on trying my hardest to now not be in the house until she
    moves out.

That way she doesn't find more reasons to really not like me, and I don't
get wound up. It's just hard to maintain that clarity all the time :)
Like I said - I think a lot of it is actually down to me.

BTW - mailed you about a route suggestion, but it still has the dreaded A5.

She possibly is taking your stance as one of "couldnt care less", which
    might be winding her up.
Beer goggles are what you need ;-)
Don't be too hard on yourself though.
Have emailed back a suggested alternative, which may be crap.
