    Book says 90/90 21 and 120/90 17.

Also on offer in Distanzia are 90/80 21 - much cheaper for some reason than
the 90/90. And 130/80 17 - which is often more available than the 120/90.
(There's room for the 130 profile).

Just how important is it to fit the exact size to a Transalp?

Probably not very important at all. I doubt you'd notice the difference
    with a 90/80 front, & a 130 rear may slow the turn-in a bit, but again
may not be noticeable. It's the sort of question best asked on a single
make group really - they've probably tried every combination under the
    sun. Something like http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/transalp/

Don't know about the fron, but the NX650 Dominator uses the same tyres as
the Transalp. It's a whils since I had the Dommie but I'm sure I used a
130/80 on the rear - Michelin T66[1] were the tyre of choice and the rear
radial only came in that size.

[1] funny how things move on, T66s became the spawn of satan once Tourance
    arrived.

    I used 90/90 21 130/80 17 Bridgestone BT45s on mine. Handled a treat. Didn't
seem to care about the slight difference in rear size.
