Bad form, etc. No 28 can be yours. Otherwise you'll have to fight DNC.

Ta very muchly for the offer, but I have been studiously avoiding such
numbers to avoid being labelled as 'In The Clique', iyswim.

Other than, of course, the much coveted YTC numbers, but I havent found
anything stupid enough to do to warrant one.

Yep, in France (where I was stopped), Switzerland, Germany (the latter
of course are the same), though not so much in Spain or eastern europe.
I actually forgot to mention a small speeding incident in Hungary,
taking the toll up to 2:1:1, stopped 4 times in total.

You lights do have a kickup don't they? The Trophy has a very
pronounced kickup and coupled with luggage/pillion combinations caused
all sorts of flashes from oncoming drivers. The 'Bird is symetrical.
I'm on the fence on that one, but what I do object to is having two
lamps but only one comes on so if you blow a bulb it goes dark. Wtf is
wrong with having them both on?

Germany it's compulsory to have lights on as well. Common Euro legislation?

Unless it expires, otherwise no (I hope, still riding on Irish license)

  7. The plates on the car/bikes, yes, as they are resident etc.
For the licence, you are correct, I shouldn't need to - however, there
is case after case on many an expat forum, where Brits with valid UK
licences, in the Photocard format, being fined for not swapping to a
cloggy licence after 6 months residence.

I'm figuring I apply now for a replacement UK licence, swap the current
one for a cloggy licence and have one of each. Best (and worst) of both
    worlds.

  8. I would strongly suggest you follow my plan in other post - just to save
yourself any potential grief. Especially as you're native and speaka da
    lingo - even less excuse.

Be careful - when you swap your UK one for the cloggy one it will be
returned to DVLA, so you will no longer appear as having a licence.
Then again, you would only be showing it outside the UK, I suppose...

  10. This is only partially true. Your driving test pass and subsequently
issued licence is valid until you are 70 unless revoked. So, whilst they
might have a record of "currently driving on a cloggy licence", finding
an "old" licence "down the back of the sofa" shouldn't cause too much of
    a problem.

  11. Bad form, the new photocards are only valid 10 years as a document, but
the right/privilege to drive is still valid until 70.

I would if it came with one, but I was told when I bought it that as
it was a cat C write off, the insco kept all the documents. Not
totally sure I believe this, I can't see why they'd keep user manuals,
    etc.

Poffertje being a tiny little pancake type thing. Far too moreish to be
    safe in my house.

And I don't take those either. I take photocopies of them, and a
    passport !

That's what we have foreign embassies for ;-)
