Good grief no. If I can't get this working I'll install Win 2003 Server.

OK, so we know that the underlying IP connectivity works. So I suspect it's
an issue with IE not using the system settings. I'm a little out of my depth
here as I'm one of the dreaded Unix folks.

I did see that you are not using a proxy and have no settings for one -
    good.
On the same window, make sure that you are not using automatically detect
    settings or config scripts.

I would set the security to Internet at the moment as well.

Did I read the you can get Google and Mozilla. V Strange. I would have
thought that if you can get to them, you can get to anything else, unless
there should be a Proxy running somewhere within Bulldog. I wonder if there
    is a proxy issue here?

OK I know when to quit. I think that you need an XP / Bulldog person now.
    Sorry.

I can get to Nat West too. I've just trashed it & re-installed, & it's
still doing it. It's very similar to a problem I hit with Internet
Connection Sharing yonks ago - some sites would work & others wouldn't.
ISTR the general consensus after Googling was something to do with
packet sizes, & that tweaking the RWIN setting would sort it. I bought
    a router instead.
    Noooooo - don't leave me!!

It works! I'll post the solution here for the benefit of future
    Googleers.

It was, as I suspected, an RWIN/MTU issue. My router MTU was set to
Auto, which equated to 1492. I lowered it in increments of 10, & when I
got to 1452, the problem went away - all websites now load.

Oh yes, absolutely. You'd think Microsoft would be able to make their
software change my router settings wouldn't you - fucking useless
    tossers.

Good grief no. I'd rather stick my data packets in an envelope & post
them than have AOL anywhere near my computer.

Interesting. They are the only people I know that require a different MTU

It might be due to me using PPPoE & the router handling the
dialing/loging on rather than the modem. The Linksys ADSL2MUE modem
doesn't handle port fowarding, so using it as a bridge is the only way
around that particular problem. It was fine at 1492 with Win2k, so
presumably XP's a bit more picky.
