You can pick them up cheaper than that as nobody is buying
them; they seem to be over priced and underspecced ...
    perfect for the Ducati badge.

It has been their strategy for some time now, as they see themselves
as the sports bike equivalent of HD. When they first started the
merchandising back in 2001, they went from zero to EURO 13m in sales.
For 2007, they took nearly EURO 81m in parts/accessories/apparel -
it's a shame this figure isn't split down further to show just
    their merchandising stream.

Not a bad little earner by all accounts!

BTW, they also call them "lifestyle" products...

    Double damn

Definitely not. That's the kind of money Super Aguri would kill for
(although I presume you're talking about sales rather than profits)

Doesn't make them any less stupid. Don't get me wrong, I like to wear a
shirt or drink from a mug with a brand name that represents something for me
rather than, say, Nike or <insert mug manufacturer>, but I think that the
way such products are priced is ridiculous, particularly since many of them
aren't even decent quality, my Joe Bar Team lighter coming to mind. The
overpricing accusation includes Nike, Adidas and all those other "cool"
brands too. I don't see why I have to pay so LeBron James can wear free
    sneakers.

This is very true, but I think that part of the item cost
comes from paying the royalties to the merchandiser. One
of the worst pieces of Ducati merch I've seen were the stupid
pens that cost around £100 each. I went to the Harrods launch
and couldn't believe the price - even the rollerball which
used cheapo refills! Can't complain though as I got drunk on
free champers and then won the £200 Ducati paddock jacket in
    the raffle ;-)

AOL. My mug has St Austell Tribute - the Ale of Cornwall on it. I
wonder what that says about me?[1]
Oh, I dunno. I think the mug cost me a fiver. I might get one of
    these too:

It says you got it a bit wrong. The Ale goes *in* the mug.

    Couldn't resist.

Oh, yes. Mugs are OK for arthritics and the like but otherwise for odd
    people.

Agreed, but in this case I deliberately considered it to be a restricted
choice between "Tribute on my mug" and "Tribute in my mug". Lesser of two
    evils etc etc.....

Maybe I should get my coat.

Perzackly. We have a host of mugs here that proclaim "I'm no mug - I
get my hifi from Richer Sounds". Freebies, natch.

One of the local(ish) pubs had that on tap for a while. Lovely, it was, and
provoked some "This is not the greatest pint in the world" jokes that
confused the barmaid not a little.

I trust the design echoes the performance, colours and lines of a Ducati
    MotoGP motorcycle? *;)
