I could do with booking some tickets to get to London next Saturday. I can't
be arsed working it out now. If I leave it until the morning, will the
    prices double?

Shouldn't think so, usually it's multiples of 7 days in advance that get
the discounts. IIRC you'll now be into the territory of walk-up tickets
    now.

    I generally use:

    http://www.thetrainline.co.uk

if I need to book tickets.

Buggerance. I've been at another mate's all weekend, and his interweb is
broken, hence me leaving the ticket booking until now...

If you use the Virgin or FGW portals, which are just rebadged Trainline,
you can pay for the tickets by credit card without a service charge. Quite
handy if you are buying business tickets on a personal credit card with
    cashback.

    Cashback?
You mean you get a receipt for the full amount but actually pay less?
That's just the thing for business trips and expense claims.

    Yes.

The cashback is credited directly to your card. Your employer and the
retailer need know nothing of the cashback.

Just go to moneysupermarket.com and look for their recommendations. From
memory, Capital One have a 4% cashback for the first 3 months, then 1%
    after that.

If you get an Egg card and make certain travel arrangements through
lastminute.com you could get 11% back.

Amex are currently doing 5% for 3 months thereby avoiding capital one
    and gaining an extra 1%.
