TBPH, I'd actually rather PX against one from a dealer, seeing as I
have no room to keep two bikes, and I don't want to out the Sprint ST
beforehand which could potentially leave me with no ride for the TOG
    Tour.

That said, if it attracts few bids and can be got very cheap, then it
    would be rude not to.

  3. Then what sort of price would you be wanting for the ST?

    I'm thinking about 4.5k.

It's just been serviced, has a new front 020 and currently has just
    under 13 months MOT. It's 07 reg (although 06 model, i.e. no
panniers), less than 8000 miles on it. VGC, although as has been
documented here, there are some paint/lacquer issues on part of the
tank but I also have a Baglux cover for it that I've yet to fit. It's
    silver and based in Bracknell.

If TOG is reading this, whaddya reckon to this price? A guy at work
has just paid 4.2k for a 56 reg one with higher mileage and not as good
    condition, IMO.

I see it's gone up to £3150, but could still be a good buy.

Late last year (October IIRC), I paid £4.5k for mine. 57 plate, with
luggage, and less than 5000 miles.

That's a good price. Dealer or private?

It seems you really got a bargain, or I'm a bit out!

With guy at work wanting to buy one, and me thinking of selling, we had
been watching eBay & Autotrader fairly regularly and I've not seen much
    at that kind of price.

The only reason he didn't want mine was because it is silver. The twat!

On Autotrader, the top 5 by lowest price are as follows:

    06 reg, 26,323k, ukp3995
    55 reg, 11,500k, ukp4250
    06 reg, 14,054k, ukp4895 (ABS)
    06 reg, 1,339k, ukp4990 (SOLD)
    06 reg, 28,000k, ukp4995

Of course, these are asking prices, not sold prices.

On eBay, there was a '08, but 29900 miles one that went for ukp4200.

Private and I think it being October probably helped.

A couple went on ebay for similar prices at the time, so I used them as
a bargaining tool, but I haven't been paying attention since.

  10. Ah. That's about 7 years too young and 20000 miles too low for my
    budget.

There's a buyers premium of 15% to add to it too.

I looked at it last week. It's not in bad condition but it's not
immaculate and nothing special for the mileage. It doesn't look like
it's been babied. The rear tyre was in need of replacement too.
Battery was flat but they fired it up with the aid of a power pack and
it ran nicely enough. The auction chappie said the serious dealer bids
won't come in until Monday so I reckon it'll go for $4.5K+ once the
buyer's premium is added (which is plus VAT).
