For those of you that like continental beers.

Oh, I dunno. I can recall many years ago a mate bought a small cask
(pin or thereabouts) of IPA and it tasted gorgeous. To be fair, cask
beer served outside on a sunny day does seem to taste better.
Heh. Beers do need a lot of QA checking, don't they?

All you need to do is check the label. If it says "Brewed in the UK
under licence" then simply steer clear. Where Grolsch is concerned, it
used to be that the swing-top bottles were from NL but the 330ml bottles
and all cans were local piss. Heineken and Guinness gave up brewing in
    the UK some time back.

Er, last time I looked, Staropramen was brewed by Tennents, under
licence. It's as Czech as my mum.

Really? I'm sure it said Prague on the bottle last time I looked. I'll
have to see next time I have a bottle in.

As it happens, my mum had her nine-foot-long printout of the family tree
round the other day (as far as I can tell, each branch mostly involves
lots of cousin-fucking and a fair few offspring) and she reckons the yid
connection is a myth. I see her grandfather getting hitched to someone
from Mile End whose offspring were well versed in the use of oy vey as
vernacular. So it looks like 1/8th yid, at most, and with a branch on
the paternal side so the key test fails.

    Hurrah!

Unfortunate, really, as your face would suit a Homburg, and ringlets.

Certainly the stuff I drink is brewed in Prague.

Then again, it's brought back from Prague by one of Jude's staff, so
    perhaps that's not so surprising.

I came across a bottle in our somewhat full recycling bin yesterday -
it definitely says Prague and the upper label (I'm sure they have a
    specific name) clearly says "imported".

Staropramen, as anyone who visited Prague before it became such a
tourist trap, was brewed in the country. Subsequently their breweries
were bought up by Western companies. Bud bought Budvar. So it is quite
possible that is is also produced by the big Pig Swill houses here.

Bollocks. Budvar is still produced and owned by Budejovický Budvar,
n.p. of the Czech Republic. It has no connection to Anheiser Busch who
make that merkin shit labelled 'Bud'.

Didn't the long running legal spat over trade names end up with Anheuser
    buying Budvar?

I just googled it. The Czech government intervened to stop
Anheuser-Busch buying up stock. Still independent then. It has reached
    the WTO it seems!
