  2. Bloods didn't show any arthritis-like traces, but my triglycerides
were "high" and I came away with an extra script for 40 mg simvastatin.
So far I've managed to remember to take one every night and, touch wood,
    no side effects.

They worked (work) well for me. No side effects other than a goodly lowering
    of my cholesterol.

  6. Cortisol is the hormone that your body produces huge amounts of when
under stress. It also raises blood pressure significantly (part of the
    fright & flight reflex).

It *seriously* fucks up attempts to keep BG's under control too. I've seen that before, but thanks anyway.

Not a chance, coz there's nothing in that list that's even slightly odd.

  13. The could have saved themselves £250K and just read UKRM.

Or perhaps Nottingham Uni does read UKRM and that's where their idea for
    research was done.

OOH, I seem to remember reading/hearing that mixing pro-biotics and
statins is not the best thing to do, but I may well be wrong.

    :

    eh?

    Probiotics such as Acidophilus bacteria?

These bacteria are naturally present in the gut and any problem would soon
be flagged up in clinical trials.

The only food that I must avoid whilst on statins is grapefruit, which
    contain high amounts of bergamottin

Don't know the details but think I saw it on some of the labels of
cholesterol lowering food stuffs, but not sure which.

That may depend on other stuff in them, I can't seeing it making any
sense to develop cholesterol reducing product that negates proper
    medication.

I too have only been told not to eat grapefruit, and indeed, it has been
clearly typed on my prescription labels lately too.

I have seen somewhere that you shouldn't take antacids with statins.
