  1. I'm just reading "Phoenix Squadron"[1] by Rowland White, a (true) tale
of derring-do involving the Fleet Air Arm.

In it he mentions a bunch of FAA guys being sent off to Miramar to take
part in the US's "Top Gun" programme. They had to pick callsigns, but
eschewed the "Maverick", "Viper", etc style of the natives.

They were known as Alien, Dogbreath, Cholmondley and Spastic.

    Well, it made me laugh...

[1] Which reminds me, I must post "Agent Zigzag" back to TOG.

I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate
change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Now quit bugging me and
go and talk to the Catholics.

  2. Post Phoenix Squadron with it, if you could....

    Zigzag is just brilliant, innit?

  3. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, The Older
Will do, once I've finished it.
It's a totally implausible yarn. And then you remember that it really
    happened...

  5. Blimey. Who could resist a desperate plea like that. OK, Nigel, bung him
Zigzag, and I'll keep first dibs on Phoenix.

I liked Vulcan 607. Amazing just how close those Vulcans came to
    becoming submarines.

Anyone wants to borrow it [1], they're welcome.

    Paul.

[1] Note to Catman, i'm the wrong side of the pond to send yours :)
