You'll be lucky. Unless you can spend Friday taking the offending leg
out yourself and toting it to a dealer on the Saturday.

Thank **** for Firefox racing in Keighley, ride in, new seals, oil & general
checkup & ride out £85 for both forks...

Might get them to install k-tech valves & he'll setup the suspension for me,
    too.

A bit of fucking about with trains dropping it off, but the alternative
    would be losing the £149....

  4. At that price, I'd strongly suspect they use one of those horrible claw
tools for yanking out the seals without separating the fork leg and
stanchion. If that's the case, I'd avoid.

I know the chap that works there, i bought my ducati 916 off him.

They do a decent job, i might also get some valves k-tech.

He's the sort of bloke that would invite you to watch him do the work.

My view would be that they do so many fork rebuilds & rear rebuilds they can
do 'em cheaper. And they do a *fucking* lot.

BTW, how do the claw things work with regard to getting new seals in? I have
    seen 'em, but...

  6. Well, OK, but I'd reckon it would take, let's say 10 minutes to get the
legs out. Remove wheel, calipers, mudguard, gubbins, etc, undo pinch
    bolts, drop legs.

And thus 10 minutes to replace.

Put leg on bench, undo securing bolt that holds leg and stanchion
together, upend leg, drain oil, remove all damping internals, carefully
lay them out in the right order on the bench, clean out leg of all old
oil, remove seal, fit new seal, clean and replace damping internals,
carefully measure and fill fork oil, check level, bolt leg together.
    Probably 30 minutes per leg.

You're up to 80 minutes for the job. Add cost of fork seals - close to a
    tenner each these days for exotic stuff. Plus a bottle of fork oil;
    another fiver.

Labour rate of £40 an hour? So say £50 for labour. Plus seals and oil.
OK, just possible if they work like demons. I'm assuming, btw, that that
    £85 includes VAT at 20%.

You have, like, two parallel hooks on the end of a handle. You bang the
sharp ends of the parallel hooks into the seal wiv an 'ammer. Then you
lever the seal out, using the edge of the fork leg as a fulcrum. It's
terrifying easy to damage the lip of the leg.
