I knew it was "so many years ago" and not many at that. The bike and
tyre progress is frankly amazing in the past 15 years.
And you can pick a new one up for around ?7.5k. Stupid isn't it? (in a
    good way)

    Pity you can't buy a Honda/Toyota with 2001 F1 car performance for
    under ?15k.

FWIW I went down the road in my FT jacket (but with leather jeans on)
and slid for a good distance in it (lowsided, low speed but wet so
    lots of sliding).

It was and is fine[1], can't see any damage, it did move around during
the slide though so it managed to transfer a kind of mini-burn-bruise
    thing onto my arm.

[1] As far as I know. It's not ripped or anything.

So no reserve then ? Splendid - could you post when you're doing the
    auction then please.

    Well this is the thing.

The FT gear I looked at appeared to be well designed, thought out, nice
liner, but what quality leather and stitching they've used you can't
    tell by looking.

It does seem pretty damn stupid to invest money in the design and
construction only to ruin it with cheap materials.

My Dainese one piece has held up very well, but then
I'm well know for knowing **** all about crashing bikes
    and sliding down race tracks...

Your Dainese suit was made prior to the shift in production to the far
east. Older Dainese stuff is pretty good quality.

Or does it apply to auctions created on Thursday but set to start at
    7pm on Sunday[1].

    [1] The ideal time for a 7 day'er to finish I reckon.

Is that like a ten day auction that starts on thursday
    and ends on a sunday?

    So "Yes" to that one.

You sure? It's a 2001/2002 suit and up there ^^ you said:

"The Dainese suit you have, if made in '94 or before, is of
much better quality than the rubbish they make now."

So you're not really making sense...

Now that's the obvious way of doing it.

I normally just create auctions when I'm free but schedule them all to
start at 7pm on a Sunday. I suppose I could schedule them to start at
7pm on Thursday and run for 10 days, but the chances of me getting my
auctions ready for Thursday are pretty slim. Ho hum.

You seem to have misjudged the context I replied in. Dainese stuff made
up until around five years ago is fine, stuff made after that in the far
    east is suspect at best.

Your suit was made around the time they started shifting production to
the far east, I remember looking at it and saying that it was one of the
better made ones. Caz, my eldest daughter, has a Dainese 2-piece suit
from around 1999 and the quality of that is fantastic too, same with
Bee's Dainese suit that she never wears.

Tori, my ex, has just had a rake of repair work done to her Dainese 2-
piece leather suit where seams had fallen apart, zips broken and the
leather had scuffed through from normal wear and tear. She also had a
repair done to a pair of older Dainese trousers that had a hole worn
through from kneeling in them a lot doing welding and suchlike. I was
amazed the older trousers had survived the abuse, but they are of much
older manufacture than her 2-piece is - that is only 3 years old at
    most.

Her Dainese waterproof jacket hasn't been, it's leaked from almost the
day she bought it, it is also cold and draughty. She's now converted to
much cheaper and far better made Gericke Voyager Shelltex gear and after
doing a 45 mile a day commute on her Bandit this winter, she swears by
it. She commented that she got kitted out in an Arai Chaser helmet,
Goretex TRG boots, Pathan gloves and Voyager jacket and trousers from
Gericke for almost the same money that her mother paid for plain black
    Dainese leather jacket and trousers.

Seriously, I'm not the only poster here who thinks new Dainese and
Alpinestars stuff is crap. Even our resident safety expert is of the
    same opinion.

Don't you pay extra for a scheduled start? I've not used it myself.

Besides, if you run it from thursday for 10 days not only do
you finish on a sunday but you get two weekends in so
    plenty more browsers.
