Free holiday in Forster!

  1. This came through on the MCC delegates list.

I've done motorcycle marshalling for pushbike races, and it's fun. They
can be utter loonies and make you think they left their brains somewhere
to save weight, but hey.... who are we to throw stones?

Here is your chance for FREE holiday (???) in beautiful Forster. With
food and accommodation (and beer??) supplied.

Please pass it on to your club members, friends etc.

The Forster Iron Man Triathlon is on again this year on Sunday the 4th
    of April .

The Ironman Triathlon is a sort of masochist thing where a bunch of fit
young people torture themselves by swimming 3.8Km, then riding a
pushbike for 180.2Km and then running another 42.2Km, and they pay
($1500 I think) for the privilege, they are mad, but you just have to
follow them on your bike - much easier

We need a total of about 55 Volunteers (and their bikes) to come and
carry around all the Technical Judges, Cameramen, and other officials.

    - volunteers must bring their own bike , preferably a "Tourer" or a
quiet cruiser (loud exhausts stop you from catching cyclists breaking
the rules and none of the pillions are too keen on spending all day
sitting on a little sportsbike pillion seat) but all applications are
    welcome.
    - Volunteers must be competent riders and capable of carrying a pillion
    safely.
    - all petrol is supplied.
    - Meals are supplied (Saturday Lunch, Dinner - Sunday Breakfast Lunch
    Dinner)
    - Accomodation is supplied - Dormitory style in the Forster Backpackers
    for Saturday AND Sunday nights.
    - All volunteers get a T Shirt.
    - Accomodation etc can't be supplied for wives/husbands/partners there
is only enough room for the riders and accommodation for that weekend in
Forster was booked out 6 months ago.
    - BBQ, food & beer supplied on Saturday night.
    - You need to be in Forster by 11am on Saturday 3/4/04 to register fill
up with petrol and food and be shown the course. Arrive with an empty
tank, it will be filled for you.
    - Volunteers have to start at 5.30AM (YES IN THE MORNING !!!) on Sunday.
And are expected to finish around 3pm. Yes , you get rest breaks in
    there somewhere.
    - Volunteers get a chance to legally harass cyclists !!

If you are interested, and would like to help (and have a great weekend)
please send me an email with your Name, address, type of bike, bribe
    money, etc. or phone me on 02 6554 5987 or 0412 644355. Please don't
volunteer unless you are prepared to turn up and do your bit.

We need to have all the volunteers organized by the end of this month,
and there is a limit to the numbers we can handle (we already have about
    20) so please apply ASAP if you are interested.

    Thanks
