Nah. Law of permissive maintenance applies. "Go on, fiddle with it.
It can't be more broken than broken."

An ex-boss of mine had a spare room and a garage full of the things.
Drove him nuts: named his son Edmund

That isn't an accusation ... believe it or not.
But ... sadly I'm sure you are so used to hostility that you will think
the same of me as well.

    Peace brother.

His things named his son Edmund? I'm impressed - and scared.

Coincidentally, Mum's Mundlos was purchased from a shop in Valletta. As
she lived in Msida and dad came from St Julians while they were
courting, the 'little Old Sewing Machine Guy in some back street in
Sliema' already had a regular customer in the shape of my ma, until the
Mundlos arrived in 1956. Mum still has the hand cranked Singer she used
until then, fully reconditioned and restored, natch

  18. Sheeit, nearly every home had one of those when I was a young boy. Mind
you, they soon got chucked into the coalshed when motorised ones from
    the dastardly Japenese came about.

Bah. Ex Mrs prawn had a manual sewing machine and one of a similar
vintage wiv a motor attached to it. She eschewed modern kit as being
    "too fragile" for proper use.
