    in summary:

are you going to rescind the 100hp limit?
    - sego: nope
    - sarko: what answer is going to get me elected?

are you in favour of gatsos?
    - sego: yep
    - sarko: nope, but i'm not going to get rid of them, just lower the number
of points on your licence you get from them

do you support dna profiling of speeders and those who attend rallies?
    - sego: absolutely not
    - sarko: you betcha

Sarko ahead on points as Royal swings and misses.
    Sarko wins that one easily.
Oops - a self-inflicted injury by Sarko there but he just about hangs
    in there.

The 100bhp limit and Gatsos are as much about curbing civil liberties
    as DNA databases, etc.

It's just a question of how one decides which ones are acceptable and
    which ones are not.

To me they are issues of freedom and liberty

  7. I'm still surprised that no one (AFAIK) has tried to take the French
government to court on this. I can find _no_ prevision in the
Constitution, and no organic law, that would justify this
    restriction [1].

It's like passing a law to prevent black drivers from using their
vehicles on Sundays. Constitutionally, I find it every bit as invalid.

[1] which isn't the same as their being none
