French Gold Wing riders - NO!!

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Oct 30, 2005.

  1. Spent this weekend in France: stayed in Chepy, near Abbeville, at the
    hotel some people know.

Lots of shopping in advance of Christmas - spent 440 euros in the
    supermarket :-0

Anyway, we were (obviously) in the car. Between St Omer and Abbeville,
we came up behind a convoy of 10 French Gold Wings, including a sidecar
    outfit.

They were *all* wearing bright red high-visibility over-jackets, with
the logo of their club on the back. Sad, sad, sad.

And they were travelling - all of them - at 50mph (80kph). Sometimes,
they threw caution to the winds and achieved 55mph.

We were stuck behind them for 15 miles. Because they were all spread out
in a long line, it was impossible to overtake them. Behind us, a long
    line of cars built up.

Listen, Frenchmen. FIND THIRD GEAR!!!! Or open the throttle more. Or, if
you like riding everywhere at 50mph, buy a fucking 125 Custom.

Both The Doctor and myself were thinking that Salad Dodger, here at
ukrm, could show you how a Gold Wing *should* be ridden.

Forming a mobile chicane, and holding up traffic, on 1500cc and 1800cc
motorcycles, makes you look incompetent, as well as sad.

  3. I am serious. Ten Gold Wings, travelling slowly enough to hold up
    traffic.

Travelling at or around the speed limit, in fact. :)

Could you post a link to something more impressive next time please.
Where do all the fast riders hide every time we come over for a long
    weekend?

  12. 10 Wings, faisant une ligne de 500 metres. Et faufilant comme des
    imbéciles....

No - the line was too long to overtake.

    C'est vrai....

    The Older Gentleman nous narrait:
What a bad luck, you just stumbled on the ukrm annual ride in France. Don't be
so upset, they were doing their best.

Pas de bol, tu es tombé sur la concentre annuelle d'ukrm en France. Ne soit pas
si vexé, ils faisaient de leur mieux.
