French MotoGP 2010

Just as an aside and not trying to steal the limelight from the TOG
tour announcement.

I'd talked about getting a box at the French MotoGP next year in Le
Mans. Some of you expressed an interest in this.

Who's still up for it? I'll need to start working on reserving the box
and more importantly, who wants to rough it and who wants a hotel?
We'll need sufficient numbers to make this work

It's the weekend of the 15/16 May, I believe.

 

I seem to have that weekend earmarked in my calendar and by some miracle
it doesn't seem to clash with a wedding or football tournament. Which is
nice.

Bung me on the list. Hotel preferred but happy to rough it, Chimay-
style.

 

Put both of us on the list of provisional runners.

I'd prefer a hotel but camping at the circuit would be ok.

I've never been to Le Mans - is it a good spectator circuit?

It's under three hours from chez nous.

 

Pretty good, yes. Camping is a bit hit-and-miss. The cheif villain is
the weather - can be lovely in early spring, and can be horrendous. I
remember a Le Mans in md-April at which it actually snowed.

 

I think that the circuit is pretty good (but take into account TOG's remarks).

Having a box means that you'd be over the pits and have access to the areas
behind the pits (not the actual area where the lorries park up). I'll try

Lots and lots of space to watch and see and you get some impressive view of
the race, IMO.

It'd take probably about 20 of us to make it worthwhile. I'll work on the
costings this week.

 

I quite fancy the idea in principle too. And the ski season will be
pretty much over and done by then, so why not?

But it'd have to be at a hotel, preferably at least a half-decent one.
No way am I camping.

Oh yes. Fugging freezing at the 24hr. So glad I took the cage. Aksewerly
I remember piling loads of other peoples luggage in the car too.

 

Might be interested. If others are camping would join them in
preference, but if not hotel would be OK. Interested but not certain by
any means.

I know I was there, and Mrs Boxer, she has never let me forget how
cold it was. The year before was shorts and T shirt weather.
So cold we ALMOST considered letting TOG share our 2 man tent just for
the extra body heat.
