So it is pretend carbon fibre? Or, do you need a carbon fibre bracket?

Why hit a pedestrian? What did they ever do to you?

Were you competing in a pedestrian hitting contest with aus.cars road
    safety savior, Rainbow Warrior?

Bit disappointing, never thought I'd see you fold on one of your invalid
    arguments.

  5. Nah, the kid was stealing stuff from a truck, truckie caught him, but the
kid slipped and ran straight across the road in front of me. Dark road, I
didn't see him till he was rolling over my bonnet.

Police gave his parents my contact details which I wasn't too happy about.

You might have read about a mate of mine who got knocked off his bike by a
pedestrian. The one the cops charged with Neg Drive afterwards.

Just thinking back... in all the discussion about front plates, does
    anyone remember *illumination* being mentioned?

For front plates to be useful around the clock, they would need to have
a light shining on them, no; isn't that in the relevant ADR, too?

So, instead of just figuring out how to shrink-wrap a front plate onto
the pointy nose of a sportsbike which is mostly headlights and
windscreen, you now have to come up with a way to mount (and wire up) a
    small, protruding light.

    <insert crow imitation here>

    Never thought of that.

Of course speed cameras use flashes, and this was always about cameras
seeing plates, not people. No matter what Shane thinks.

I don't think I've ever seen a non-bling car that had the front
    numberplate illuminated.

Can cameras take effective pictures of a front plate if the headlight is on?

The cameras in victoria which face the front of the vehicle all use
infra-red imaging I think. They seem to work effectively in the tunnels
where there is very poor light and lots of vehicles would have their
lights on. They also use these on unlit sections of other freeways
apparently without any trouble identifying vehicles.

aha! now I know why I got a defect notice on my Mazda bubble car ...
somebody must have removed the light over the front number plate ...

now why didn't Shane think of that ?
