Fruity!

  1. I finally decided to get rid of the GTR's rocket launcher^W^W overly
    large end can.

I got a kite-marked stainless one from Free Flow on EBay for 116 quid
shipped, which is (IMHO) a screaming bargain. Came next day too!

Not a *totally* straightforward fit, I had to make a small plate up to
make the centre stand hit its stop on the new link pipe, but other than
    that pretty easy.

And... fruity. Sounds nice to me. I haven't tried it sans removable
baffle yet, and I probably won't bother. It'll be interesting to hear it
on song, and see what effect it has on the evening filter up the M1.

I'd appreciate a review - my bruv's thinking of doing something
    similar.

The only useful thing about my loud can is the filtering benefit - oh,
and not having to fumble for the horn when a lemming ped puts a foot
out of line. I find it quicker and easier to dip the clutch and tweak
the throttle and it is generally remarkably effective.

I've noticed a blip of the throttle works magic to some extent since I
    started commuting on the KTM.

Unfortunately it doesn't work with the twats on bicycles wearing
earphones. They must have a fucking death wish.

Would still almost prefer the KTM to be a bit quieter though. Loud pipes
    just irritate me these days.

    Can't they feel the noise?
    Sure sign of getting old.

Only if they're listening to Noddy Holder.

Try doing 2500 miles sitting behind Preston on his fucking MV.

He wonders why the krauts took such an interest in his pipes, I can
explain why: it sounds obnoxious, and not in a good way, even at a
    standstill.

A bit much for my taste if it was my bike but I relished the noise in
    the tunnels.

Fantastic stuff. Really, *REALLY* liked the noise.

See, now, I knew someone was going to chip in with a Slade reference[1],
but I really didn't think it would be you.

[1] I even re-worded my question, but then left it in. To see.

heh, Domenec pulled in his clutch and gave it beans in the first tunnel we
came across, and it didn't sound too bad from his Akropovic (I think). I
then did it on the F650GS that I'd hired, and almost fell off laughing at
    how weedy it sounded.

And why not? I'm a fully paid-up UST, you know.
There's always somebody. Back in the day, you know, it owuld have been
Eddie almost without fail, but these days it's usually Champ or Ace.

Yoshimura, the last one for my bike model that was shipped from the
Yoshi headquarters. At 160 EUR delivered to my door I couldn't say no.
I should fit the db killer for long trips, though.

That was it! I knew it had a funny name. Sounds nice without being
    offensive.

I've taken the Quill off my ZX9 as it was getting too much.

I guess it's like music - tastes vary. I love the MV sound from the
riding position[1], but the noise from Gavsta's on-board vid he posted
a few years ago had me reaching for the mute button. I also love the
sound of a sporty V-twin, but Champ doesn't.

The MV's currently 103.4dB at 7k, which I don't think is as loud as
you'd think it'd be. Should hopefully be ok for Silverstone but I've
got a set of quiet pipes coming along just in case my meter's
    under-reading.

[1] But wouldn't want to sit behind it for long.
