OK I suspect some of you recall me bitching about a KLX300 and
eventually trading it for a Hyosung Gt250. I took it (Fritz, the Hyo) in
the shop on Monday Feb 26 for its "before we give to the new owner"
lookover or whatever it is called and I asked to get the indicator block
and the tail light sorted. I dropped it in at 10am so I could get it
    back that day.

The indicator always needed a vertical wiggle and very hard push left to
turn on but was easy as with right. Suffice to say I copped a few horns
as a result of that one.

The tail light had an element blown. It worked when braking but not when
the lights were on. I rang late that arvo and was told it hadn't been
    looked at :?.

On Feb28 a new indicator block was ordered but they hadn't looked at the
tail light but that's been sorted now (new bulb, which I knew).

I'm *still* riding an xs650. I've rung the shop every other day and been
told 'day after tomorrow' every time. I accept they may not exactly be
falling out people's arses (and if one does, I'm not so sure I want
it..) but surely there's one that's less than 2 and a half weeks away ?

I don't want to be ringing the shop up every other day to be told no -
it's kinda depressing. Don't get me wrong the xs is nice but too heavy
for me - though it's a funky orange, probably '**** off superhero'
orange to use someone else's words but as I'm sure anyone here reading
this can appreciate I wanna ride *my* bike. So far I've ridden 3 months,
but I reckon less than 4 weeks of that has been on my own bike. I wanna
spend time with *my* baby :(

Does anyone have any useful advice - should I find and call the
    distributor myself or something ?

Thankfully it arrived and was fitted today.
I hopped on my little baby and took off down the street.
After the weight of the XS I nearly hauled it over leaning into the
first corner but by the time I'd gone 1 kilometre, pedestrians were
seeing some idiot motorcyclist riding down the road cheering and
whooping for some reason .. :)

Thanks for the advice though !

    Eh?
Have I got this right; you put your bike into the shop 'cause it has a blown
tail-light bulb?!!? (and a wiggling indicator)
Why didn't you just replace the bulb (instructions are in your handbook if
you can't figure it out) and keep riding it until the indicator part comes
    in?

I know a retailer of Italian motorcycles in Melbourne who took the
engine out of a brand new bike to put in a customer's motorcycle
requiring a warranty engine replacement/repair, then, when all the new
parts for the warranty finally arrived months later, repaired the
damaged engine and put it in the brand new bike. Good for some. :|

Yeah; you would've taken that Bonneville to the shop to get the
    taillight-bulb replaced wouldn't you Rockit?[/QUOTE]

When it went into the shop and I was showing the indicator fault the
tail light was spotted. In the few moments between then and when I left,
I didn't get chance to be whipping out a screwdriver. Besides, I am
pretty useless with tools :) The indicator wouldn't work when it was
reassembled or it wasn't salvageable or gremlins stole the contacts
overnight.. I dunno - that was what I was told when I suggested dodgying
mine up 'til the part arrived.

    Anyway all is good now.

The Norge handbook tells you how to change the indicator globes but tells
you to take it to a dealer if the number-plate light goes out.

That could be Moto Guzzi's perverted sense of humour trying to get you
booked for an obscure number plate or something...
Saw a very nice yellow 1100 sport the other day. Had a chat to the
rider at the lights and then followed him till I got to my exit.
The bike looked great, sounded great and had an intermittent brake
    light.

Hi Nev - Real question... Is there no link on m/cycles registration
identification with the Engine # and the VIN #. Wont both these bike owners
be in trouble when these figures dont match at time of any vihicle
    inspection?
    Am I missing something?

No because you can change the engine number by filling out a form at
    RTA/Vicroads etc.
