A close friend has emigrated to Australia and entrusted me with the
    sale of her lovely VFR750. It's a double-sided swing-arm version in
white. I can't remember the mileage but it's not huge. This is the
model with 17" wheels front and rear.

Like I said, it is in lovely condition with the exception of a broken
centre fairing panel on the left side from where it fell over - it's
just a small break that I will weld but can't paint to match. It
doesn't look like it's ever been dropped while moving. There's a full
Motad stainless steel exhaust system that I fitted last year, and at
the same time it was fully serviced and the swing-arm/shock linkage
bearings were all checked and regreased before reassembly[1]

I've ridden it and it really is a lovely bike that should see someone
    ok for a few years.

It needs a front tyre, but I'll probably put one on before sale, and
can be sold with 12 months MOT even though there's loads left.

£1100 no offers, or £1000 and you put a tyre/MOT on.

ICBW but unfortunately I don't think it's worth that much. I've got a
low mileage (13K), original exhaust, '89 one in white, I don't think it
would make much more than about 750 (tin't for sale though). TOG may
    comment?

Yours has the original exhaust, in which case any clued up buyer should
budget for fitting a new Motad because they don't last forever. That
takes the buying price to about £1200, or about 200 quid more than
    she's asking.

If it's as good as Lozzo says (and he knows his stuff), then a grand-
ish sounds about right, but it would have to be sub-20k miles. The 17"
wheels make it more desirable than the early one with a 16" front. And
interest is growing in the gear-train VFRs, especially the early
(fast) ones. The only bugger would be trying to match that semi-
    pearlescent white paint.

You'd have to ask what else you could get for a grand, and I don't
think much would compete with a bike this good.

  5. I'm mulling over whether to buy it. I've always loved the proper VFR's
(ie the later 750s) and it would fill the bike-shaped hole in my
    garage..

Now all I have to do is talk it over with the Budgetary Authority and
    see what she says.
Lozzo's plastic weld would be good enough for me.

Indeed. I did manage to get some replacement plastics for mine from Dave
Silver a while ago at a knock down price. But I still need at least one
panel painting, I may end up having to get the whole lot done.
Ok that makes me feel better about mine then.

    Nope, I'll be here.

By the way, apropos to nothing at all, just filling in time really,
what are her flight details again?
