Sadly, the time has come to part with the red beastie, so I thought I would
offer it here before sticking it in Auto Trader or suchlike:

    1998(S) CBR1100XX, Red
    19,000 miles
Very good condition, couple of tiny marks on the fairing that disappear with
some T-Cut. Tiny nick in the pillion saddle that I can't be arsed to fix
    before selling.
    Full service history.
    12 Months MOT
    Scottoiler & Touring reservoir
    Datatool System 3 Alarm/Immobiliser
    Datatagged.
Givi WingRack, complete with 2x 40 litre side panniers and 1x50 litre top
box. Brake lights in top box are wired in.

    £3,800 ono.

It had 4k miles on it when I got it two years ago. I've tried to make up for
the previous owners lack of spine :)

Forgot to mention, also has a baglux tank cover on it, so the tank paintwork
    is absolutely mint.

I'm in Bristol if you fancy a look.

  3. Dunno, it takes a lot of guts to so blatently clock a bike!

Checked the service book. It was depressing.
2,200 miles in the first year. 630 in the next 14 months, 339 in the next 11
    months. What a waste.

My 2000 fuel injection went for £ 3,400 with 15k miles
    £ 3.8k seems high IMHO

I'm no expert, but you may have trouble shifting it at that price
considering there's a raft of newer litrebikes around at the 4500 mark.

But what do I know ;-)

Well, firstly it's "ono", and secondly it's meant to reflect the:

    £130 Wingrack with indicators
    £187 E52 Maxia top box
    2x £150 E360 side panniers
    £120 Scottoiler touring kit.
    £70 Baglux tank cover
and even the £15 fender extender if it comes to that!

So whilst yours may have gone for £3.4k, did it have over £800 of
accessories fitted to it? Having looked in autotrader and a few other
places, £3.8k does not seem that unreasonable as a starting price.

I know it hurts but accessories appear to have little resale value. If
one can be arsed, removing them and eBaying separately can help.
Re Tog's comments at various times this year, your up against is a
buyers market, with few buyers and lots of desperate sellers.

  9. Agree 'cept the givi stuff which is like money in the bank.

.....but on the bike even that's worth f**k all.

Does this work (how) in favour of sellers also if they want to p/x?

I guess if you need to P/X the dealers will rape you appropriately?

Not necessarily - if the market is stagnant, they will still have their
    targets to meet etc.

Having worked in a main dealers, I can assure you, given the large bonuses
they get from the main distributors for meeting such targets, it's in their
interests to make sure you sign on the dotted line, even if it means giving
you a decent (given the market conditions) amount for your PX.

Said targets are why you quite often, at least in car circles, see so many
    'pre-registered' bargains, at times.

Yeah, I suppose the other option is to just flog it with the wingrack on[1],
    and ebay the panniers separately.

[1] I really can't be arsed to remove it and reinstall the original
    indicators.

Hmmm.. and you cant be arsed to repair the nick in the seat and the
buyer will need to T-cut out the scratches on the fairing....might lead
one to wonder what else you couldn't be arsed to do.

Or, to put it another way:
    1) The scratches in the fairing are barely detectable because they already
    *have* been done.
    2) I am moving house in 12 days and would like to have sold it before then.
    3) Given that I would probably get about £50-£75 tops for the rack on it's
own, it's not worth my time and effort to remove it.
    4) Any attempt I made to repair the seat nick would undoubtedly lead to it
looking twice as bad. I know entire replacement seats can be had for about
£40, but again I just don't have the time to do it.

Is that any help in allaying your caution? ;-)

  16. I've often thought for a relatively low mileage I'd rather have a
neglected bike than a bodged up one.

For some reason 8 miles on the same oil doesn't seem as bad as all the
servie items done but all the relevant fastening's heads rounded or
    missing or whatever.

That said if you can be arsed to take a GIVI rack off for £80 or so it
really does suggest laziness. If you *really* couldn't think of a way
to spend the cash you could give it charidy.

    Heh, no problem.

Just out of interest, how did you deal with the payment? I've never sold
privately before, so I'm a bit dubious. I'm guessing common sense stuff like
cash, or cheque + 5 days before you get the bike. Can people do a chargeback
    on Paypal to screw you?
