It is nice for a quality luxo barge.

Tweeked ECU gives it 255bhp, 25+mpg round town, 32+mph on a run.

Lovely and quiet, will go off the clock when asked to (about 158mph
according to the speedo, s'pose thats about 143mph real speed) (on a
    test track, honest guv)

    Bloody peanuts really.

Been hunting for one in the one true colour, with all the toys, for
    ages.

Spotted this one, I went, I saw, I test drove, I grinned like a cheshire
    cat, I bought :)

    Its an '06 3.2 S, 33k miles, £23k. And its a manual, so trackdays are a
    go-go.

Does it have the BMW electric rear sun blind?

They all do that at the moment, sir. Unfortunately.
    That's what I expected to see :).
Wahay. Report back what it's like on the track, willya? Oh, and fancy
doing Cadwell Park sometime this year? It's on my "must do before I move
away" list, so realistically I'll have to do it before the end of
    summer.

I like the way the dealer blots out the number plate so nobody can
pinch it then the daft **** takes a photo right outside his showroom.
    How thick can you get?

You assume the dealer took that photo.

Oi knows wot oi likes, and likes wot I knows.
    Will do.
I think I can easily fit Cadwell in before the end of summer, game on!

I also want to do lots of playing on a skidpan somewhere and a bit of
track drifting, well, not so much drifting but just something so I can
be confident on public roads should the back get a bit frisky or I fancy
turning the TC off completely and playing.

    Heh, no it doesn't.

Ok, from memory the toys its got are:-

Elec adjustable & heated side mirrors.
Parrot bluetooth phone kit (very, very, very good)
    Cruise control.

sat nav view, TV, radio, 6 disc CD changer, cassette, computer for mpg,

Elec seats (passenger + drivers), drivers with 4 memories and key-linked
    recall.
Elec adjustable leg support extensions on front seats.
Elec adjustable reach + rake for steering wheel.
Auto-move away for steering wheel when you take the key out.
Steering wheel audio & cruise buttons.
IPod connection and Alpine 6 CD MP3 compatible changer.
    Remote central locking (woo!)
Auto door lock on drive off.
    Front and rear parking sensors.
    Elec windows wiv pinch stop.
    Rear screen demister.
Rear seat cig lighter power socket.
Traffic master (but the subscriptions run out and I don't need it so
I've removed the controls and put the cup holders back in).

    I bet there's something I've forgotten too! :)

Cool. The new trackday shed (another MX5, this time a turbo[1]) should
be ready for action towards the end of next month, once I've worked my
way through all the "was my pride and joy, best looked after evva MX5"
issues that we've found so far.
I've had instruction from this guy: http://www.benelliottracing.com/

    Definitely recommended.

Arse, the footnote muncher struck again.

[1] I'm pretty sure TOG's missus would like a go in that, given her
    reaction to the previous one.

It should. It's not exactly the most powerful turbo in the UK but it
seems to have a useful extra amount of shove.
    See other posts.
Sticky or clattery? If it's the latter and it doesn't go away with in 30
seconds, I'd try a good engine flush using flushing oil and then
followed by a fairly thin oil (something like Mobil 0W40).

If it still clatters, you're looking at changing the lot...

Clatter. It takes longer than 30 seconds, but does go away. It only
seems to do it if left for a week or so unused with night time sub zero
    temperatures.

No sign of it before the cold snap.

The old oil was pretty filthy. Magnatec 10/40 in at the moment. I'll
give it the flushing treatment when ICBA.

Starts very easily though so long as I have optimated it.

    Looks good from their website.

I see they do a deal of there's more than one person going... anyone
else in UKRM might be interested? I presume he'll tailor each session
for what that person wants so each person can brush up on whatever
    skills they want.

Like Timo says, oil flush, then cheapo oil for a month, then decent
stuff and see if its still sticking after that.

Sounds like gunk build up in the hydraulic tappet to me excaberated by
    the cold weather.
