For sale, on behalf of my darling daughter - One nice CBR600F in black.
2001, 24k miles, FSH, all keys, lowered seat for a 5'4" girl plus the
    original seat.

She bought it from a dealer in Cheltenham just under 2 years ago with
the intention of getting her direct access licence, paid a load of cash
for lessons and then lost interest so it has been sitting unused and
    will need a new battery.

Her opinion is that it should be worth around 3 grand, I have no idea
    if this is realistic.

Currently located in Cheltenham, I will be picking it up within the
next few days and giving it a cleanup, so available for inspection
near Weston Super Mare next week.

What's her inside leg measurement? When I was looking at 600s even the
lowered ones seemed too tall for me but I'm only just 5'3".

Just checked - she is 5'3" and can get the balls of both feet down with
bike boots on. She wears 29" jeans but these are long on her in the
    current floordragging fashion.

  6. For a nine-year old CBR600? She's living in a dream world. Try knocking
    a grand off.

    Cheltenham? Doubtful.

I was thinking the same sort of thing. A good 2001 R1 would be less
    than 3 grand

People delude themselves that keeping their mass market vehicle clean and
low mileage makes it a classic. Happens all the time with CBR and BMW 3 Ser
    owners.

For a 9 y/o CBR6 I think most people would be willing to pay about £1500,
£1750 if its minty, and considering what it cost new that seems perfectly
    fair.

Or they think: I've put new tyres, chain, sprockets and brake pads on
it and that cost me £400 so that makes it worth £400 more
Checking used eBay suggests that £2000 is ball-park for an 01, and
    £1500-1750 covers 1997-99 bikes.

Asking prices sure. But do they sell?

How is it feeling at that mileage. Beemers of old would shrug it off.

This Saab feels like new at 50k and I have high hopes for it at 100k.

Well Saabs are CAC too hence my relief.

I may be wrong but it seems to me that Fords since they launched the Puma
and Cougar, post Probe fiasco, have been pretty damn good.

It's an Aero so it doesn't Pogo but I could expect some things to wear
    faster

Not quite the AndyR style of service schedule.

    Need to try harder :)

Quite a few years ago, I was asked to look at the wife-of-a-friend's
car, 'cos it was 'noisy'. Fiesta I think.

Started it up, lotsa tappity noise. Went to check oil level, dipstick
wasn't in place properly. It had -really- black and smelly oil on it.
Check level, off the bottom of the stick. Top up, with quite a lot of
oil. Restart engine - no more tappity noise.

"When did you last have it serviced?"

"Erm, we've never had it serviced - couldn't afford it"

Looked at clock, had done about 40K miles IIRC

"How long have you owned it?"

    "From new"

Oil never changed or topped up in quite a few years of short trips.

About a week later the engine exploded.
