: So that would be one of the two you bought for £82 off eBay earlier
: today would it? £40 start price and £90 buy-it-now for a jacket
: that cost you £41 is a pretty good markup. Nice to see that capitalism
: is alive and well on ukrm.
    :
    : Good luck to you.

Absolutely - or you could look at it that someone will get an as new jacket
for a maximum of two-thirds the new price.

I've always viewed Ebay prices on the basis of the items worth to me rather
than what profit someone was making on the sale. I guess if it doesn't sell
it's going to be ripped up to form the basis of my heated seat project!

  5. And as the mark-up on clothing and accessories is as much as 300%, my
    reply to that is:-

    **** Off.

You are fucking joking, aren't you? Not with any of the firms I know of.

    I haven't lost my mind, it's
backed up to a floppy disc
    that's around here somewhere.

Doesn't "As much as" work in the same way as "Up to" i.e. somewhere between
    0 and the chosen figure....?

Mark up on, in my experience is as much as 100000%. But only from cunts
selling stuff on immediately after bagging a bargain at a greatly inflated
    buy it now price.

  8. Depends on the accessory and clothing item, doesn't it?

Not so long ago I saw one of those little angled tyre valve extensions
    priced at £5.95 or thereabouts.

Clothing, though, yeah - 100%, isn't it, these days, for a lot of kit?
    Less for the pricier.

Go on then, name and shame.

Accessories I can see it happening with. Clothing is a different matter
and shouldn;t be lumped in with things like angled tyre adaptors
I wouldn't like to make any wild claims about other, possibly higher
value, manufacturers, but at the budget end that I deal in it's not
100%. However, I'd have thought the pricer stuff had greater margins,
judging by the proliferation of 50% discount deals you see advertised on
this year's stock. No dealer is going to out recently purchased stock
    and make a loss.

Can he explain how buying at a greatly inflated 'buy it now' price can
be seen as getting a bargain. A greatly reduced price would be far
better to make a profit from.

From where I'm sitting, you both come out losers, missing little
opportunity to snipe at one another, in moch the same way as everybody
else does; the only difference being the degree of venom involved.

If I didn't know better, I'd suggest that you should both grow up a
bit, shake hands and make up.

    You're right. Absolutely right.

However, Bear had better accept the fact that many posters find his
flights of fantasy risible. Holding up his hands and learning to accept
occasional piss-takes, instead of being in total denial of the issue,
would be a good career move.

I mean, we all exaggerate from time to time, spin a good yarn, whatever
    - but I can't think of anyone else who posts stories that are
demonstrably untrue, and then throws a hissy fit every time the fact is
pointed out. It's exactly the same as Guy Fawkes and his "TT
    luminaries" claims.

Trying to assert that what *I* posted (see the Fecking One-Tel Reps
thread) was untrue merely drops him in a hole that already looks like
it's been scraped by a JCB.

In other words, lighten up, cut the Walter Mitty crap, and grin and
bear it (as it were) when someone mentions... well, dep-fried chewing
gum, bikes with "POLITE" painted on them, Ron Haslam, und so weiter.....

Because, whatever happens, sooner or later, the topic will come up
again. Someone - maybe me, maybe someone else - will point out that
he's posting bullshit. Even if it's done with a wry virtual smile,
there seems little sign that it'll elicit anything other another hissy
    fit.

What I feel about him personally (and vice versa) is neither here nor
there - my chief objection on ukrm has been that he posts total
untruth, and flies off the handle if it's called out. A cheesy grin and
an "OK, fair cop" would change things entirely.

Been there, tried that, got the sneer and - more recently - an
expressed desire to inflict physical violence on me at the EOSM. Um,
    got a better suggestion?
