[FS] FJ1200A

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Milo Thurston, Aug 27, 2004.

  1. Posted on behalf of a colleage (who says he is 'crap with computers').
Please e-mail him if interested (mlea@CUT_THIS_OUT.ceh.ac.uk).
    It's in the Oxford area.

    Follows the blurb:

Its a 1990 H reg FJ1200A sports tourer. It has 11 months MOT, recent
rear tyre (Bridgestone Battlax) and exhausts, a good quality 'Outback'
saddle ( not custom or anytyhing silly - just smart and comfortable), a
Scot-oiler, and when it's clean it looks stunning in original black. The
paintwork and plastics are more or less perfect and it's totally
reliable. Top speed is about 145mph, it will get to sixty (in first if
you're happy to rev it) in the blink of an eye, but will also
accelerate two up from thirty in top. Overtaking is a total gas, as it
pulls so strongly in any gear any downchanges are pretty unecessary, and
it's so easy to ride it's untrue. That said, economy isn't stunning at
just under 40mpg. It is quite long and heavy, but the weight only makes
itself felt when putting it on its centre stand because the seat height
is quite low for such a big bike. The fairing is great and cruising at a
    ton is effortless.

I bought it last year when I sold my three year old GSXR750 to fund a
long honeymoon. The moment I rode it I had an instant grin on my face as
I rediscovered the joys of riding big eighties / nineties muscle bikes
again. I have since decided to spend most of my time abroad, having
bought a house in New Zealand, and hate the idea of laying the bike up
each winter, messing about with Sorn declarations and finding a lockup,
so I want to sell it to a deserving owner. I paid ?1,200 for it last
    year,
and have only put a thousand miles on it or so (it's done seventy odd
thousand, so for an FJ is just about run-in). I really
want to sell it for the same sort of money.

The bike will come with a small pile of really useful owners clubs mags,
and two magazines of my collection from the eighties and nineties which
include back to back road tests of the FJ and its competitors.

I hope that someone out there is interested because it's an awesome
bike. Especially as I only want ?1 per cc.
