Young lad at work is selling his having front ended it.

It has 6k on the clock, engine is good, but the front end is a bit
    fucked.

Is not looking for much money, anyone interested let me know and i'll
get more info, alternatively search google groups for the previous time
    it was for sale here.

My eldest son wants one of those as he's 17 at the end of this month and
    the test is booked.
Please drop me a line with matey's contact details if you have them..
    Cheers,

Cheers Dan. (though I don't know why I bother. Guess who'll end up
    rebuilding it _indefinitely_?)
Bloody teenagers. A pestilence on the lot of 'em.

If you cunts aren't able to buy, fix and sell, then why criticise?

Opportunities are what you make of them.

Well at least you've admitted why you keep grabbing the free/cheap
bikes offered. I just think it goes against the grain when another
regular has already said they're interested in getting it for a family
    member.
    Indeed.

    <it's only a teenager>
<there are plenty more fish in the sea..>

It is a bloody good time to be a buyer, especially for SOBs (not that a 6k
SV is an SOB). Got offered a low miles, very tidy, FJ12 with lots of goodies
on it (WP, Goodridge, #talon etc..) for £800 last week. Pity it was last
week when I was skint though.

Credit crunch is good for pkeys like me ;>)

If I pay money for them then I feel I'm free to do what the **** I like
with them, be that repair or break for spares, or even sell for a
profit as they are. It is extremely rare that I will suggest a price to
someone selling a bike, I prefer it if they tell me what they would
like to see, and then I make up my mind if it is worth my while. If
that means making a shitload of cash because someone either physically
can't or simply can't be bothered to repair or tidy them up then that's
my business. My lifestyle gives me the time, and I have the skills to
do it so I shall keep on doing it, because it was going on a long time
before I started posting to ukrm.

I've previously stated my position on the bikes I get given for free,
as far as I don't want to be seen to be making money out of other's
generosity. Everyone seemed to be in agreement that my giving half the
profits to Riders For Health was a decent thing to do; You must have
    skipped or forgotten that post.
Tbh, I didn't see JB's reply as it was off the bottom of my screen and
the thread wasn't unthreaded when I clicked Oldbloke's post anyway.

Fwiw I was chasing this same bike last year when matey first offered it
for sale, but for some reason he never came back to me with a price or
    pics.

It would seem so, & they all seem to have made New Year's Resolutions.
It's a bloody good time to be single too!
Should be good for me too, given the money I've gotta spend on this
place. But none of the cunts are discounting the kitchens & bathroom
    suites I want :-/

I didn't see your reply to Oldbloke's post before I sent him my email,
my apologies. It's all yours should you want it, and pop over to
www.sv650.org for all the bits to repair it. I have a top fairing cowl
in undamaged condition if you need it[1], plus some other parts like
    front footrest hangers etc.

[1] It's a copper coloured one, but no cracks, just a mark where
someone's polished through the paint on one edge.

Fair do's Loz. The guy with the cash and quickest mouse click wins the day.
Who gives a shit what someone does with a bike they have _paid_ for. It's
their property then anyway. As you say, those with the skills/time can earn
valuable extra cash in this way.
Personally I also actually enjoy the rebuilding process too (as i'm sure you
do . Spanners are good therapy when you spend most of the week looking at a
    fucking TFT!
    cheers,

No worries mate. If the seller wants a fair (cheap) price, I'll probably
have it for No1 son. He's left home to move in with his girlfriend, is
skint, but is still getting to college on his little ApriliaRX50 (so I'm
happy). He really wants a 'big bike' but knows that there wil be work/pain
    involved.
    We'll see.

Which is fine, as long as the seller knows you're effectively a dealer
& using UKRM for commercial gain.
Not at all, but again, you made a profit on a free bike that someone
else may have benefitted from. If nobody else wanted it, then fine, but
you do tend to jump on these things instantly & close the deal as
quickly as possible (like the one last week). And **** Riders For
Health - stick the profits into the Dan trike fund instead.
Which is kinda my point about waiting a while to see if anyone can
genuinely benefit from it rather than you making a profit from it.

I'm not a dealer and it's not for commercial gain. It's a hobby and for
    pocket money if I'm lucky.
I haven't parted with any of the bikes I've been given for any profit
so far. The only one that has passed out of my hands was the CB250RS
that was given away to MattG on condition that he gave £20 to RfH, same
as I did when WavyDavy gave it to me. The rest of the bikes were bought
for cash by me, had a lot of my time, blood, sweat and tears and some
money put into them before being sold, usually after I'd enjoyed them
for a while. Four of them I still own, one of which is Blaney's old CBR
which in regular use as my trackbike.
No-one else showed any interest in the two SR250s I got.

Anyway, SOB bike sales seem to be a better money-spinner than
buy-to-let property at the moment, maybe you should be considering a
    change of vocation.

Heh, you are so wrong. Current interest rates & a change in council's
policy re using privately owned homes for the homeless have made this
probably the best time ever for BTL properties.

If only you knew someone local who could respray it at mate's rates,
you'd make a tidy little profit come the summer.

Only after I'd spent a week and a pile of money rebuilding it. Want me
to build you an identical one, I have a donor bike in decent enough
    condition?
