I go up to Preston regularly so can take it that far whenever is
needed. alternatively at the end of March we'll be passing that way on
    our way to Scotland.

I'm kind of hoping to do that myself, attached to a wheel IYSWIM.

    Thanks anyway.

The MOT guy on Friday [1] said the current tyre is on the wear limit
    [2], although only in the middle - it's rather squared-off, and I
don't crank it over anywhere near as much as I probably should.
Therefore sooner is better than later; however, later is better than
    never.

    'They all do that, Sir'.

Seriously... it'll cost what, ten quid in postage?

    Don't be so tight.

I'm not being arsey... it just amazes me how tight some are given they want
/ need something, yet they'll put something on hold in the hope that others
will go out of their way / use their own time / fuel, just to save them the
    cost of postage.

    Tightarse.

Yebbut - that's the way it works, innit. Lots of us have gone out of
our way, on our own time, or taken delivery of something and had it
hanging around for lots of others. Like karma, see - what goes
around, comes back around. Like wheels. Argh.

Yeah... and when it works out well, it's great.

But when some act like it's the only option available to them regardless of
their actual needs... well it just strikes me as a bit blinkered tbh.
Like I say, great when it works out well for all concerned.

I guess a better way of putting it would be 'The UR: it's a privilege, not a
    given'.
    Yes... quite.

    How much?

No... and I was shocked: £2.46 + VAT the lot.

Doing the rear wheel bearings as well, as the wheel was heated up with
oxy-acetylene, and these were a massive £7.44 + VAT each.

Given the cost of six rubber bands, sorry, 'caliper seals' for the VFR, I'm
well chuffed, not least because the local Yamaha dealer had them on the
shelf, and my old man happened to be within five minutes of there when I put
my own UR request into him. :)

Haven't quite got how the UR works then? If anyone has to go out of
their way, as far as I'm concerned it's a non-starter. The idea is
simply to make use of existing travellers. As you say, carriage costs
are reasonable, and will be paid if necessary. I just don't trust the
    fuckers.
Never been called that before. Until recent events, I think I was the
    poster child for financial imprudence...

Obviously... given it would appear I'm sending a tyre to Pip via it at his
    request.

    *sigh*
    Wivva tyre... mmkay.

If it were postage by way of Kwik-Fit, you may have a point...

    Taken from Wikipedia:

"Sporadic cretinism due to congenital hypothyroidism
Congenital hypothyroidism can be endemic, genetic, or sporadic. If
untreated, it results in mild to severe impairment of both physical and
    mental growth and development.

Poor length growth is apparent as early as the first year of life.
Adult stature without treatment ranges from 1 to 1.6 metres (3'4 to
5'3), depending on severity, sex and other genetic factors. Bone
maturation and puberty are severely delayed. Ovulation is impeded and
    infertility is common.

Neurological impairment may be mild, with reduced muscle tone and
coordination, or so severe that the person cannot stand or walk.
Cognitive impairment may also range from mild to so severe that the
person is nonverbal and dependent on others for basic care. Thought and
    reflexes are slower.

Other signs may include thickened skin and a protruding abdomen."

Well, that sums up half of ukrm
