FS SAAB 900 16v

I have a 5 door 1993 16v SAAB 900 - the "classic" shape - for sale.

It has MOT until March, tax until the end of the month. Newish exhaust,
not bad Michelins and electric windows, sunroof etc. A working CD
changer, Aircon that could do with regassing and a random cruise control
(will it work or won't it?). Huge boot.

However, it runs hot at sustained motorway speeds. All 900s (I've had 5)
run with the needle in the top quarter of the temp gauge but this is a
bit higher. Driving at legal speeds helps and it's ok around town.

It's not the thermostat or pump (delivers a good flow just above idle).
They have reputation to clog their radiators and the 16v are a bit
marginal (same rad as an early 8v) so I suspect the radiator.

I haven't the time to get it off, flush it and generally **** about - so,
before it goes on ebay so any UKRM'r want it?

Mileage? Any untoward whirring from the heater fan? Gearbox OK?

I just watched 'State Of Play' and matey boy (Russell Crowe) was
driving around in one of those and I thought "Christ, I've forgotten
how much I wanted one". If I was on Monkey Island I'd have that, 300
squids is nowt.

 

147K, gearbox good, heater good (it's the later type), headlining sags
(they all do) but it's not in Harem Saab league - all the electric stuff
works, clutch good, fuel pump good.

It's a tidy 16 valve one that needs the rad taking out but it's usable.
It's also fucking cheap because I need it out of the way soon.

 

Need to make room for the one I've got.

I believe it is appropriate for someone local to step in at this point

I don't believe it. We've got one of those piles of shite in the shop right
now. It came for a respray, but I told the bloke it needed new back wings,
new back quarters, new rear wings, new rear inner wings, new boot floor, new
front inner wings and possibly a new bonnet.

I was hoping like **** he'd take the hint and **** off with it, but
NNOOOOOOOOOO, the bugger said "Do it".

God what a bag of shite. Thank **** the boychic's on holiday next week and I
won't have to look at it.
