Drew H was asking about Fuel a couple of days ago. Shortly after I'd ordered
one. I was quite glad they weren't slated. It arrived two days after I
placed the order, which was impressive. It was a doddle to fit. Everything
lined up. Motad, take note. Construction seems really rather good. I
couldn't find a flaw on it.

It is not much louder than stock with the end piece in until you hit about
10K, then it fair screams, in a nice way ( to my ears ). No flat spots that
I could notice but a distinct improvement in throttle response at the upper
end of the rev range. The engine seems to track throttle movement better
    between 9+11.5K.

Couple of other things. I would swear I could get the choke off earlier than
with the stock pipe and I am convinced the bike is smoother, less vibey
than before. This may well be me self justifying the pipe though.

Take the end piece out and it isn't overly loud, but it does bugger the
fuelling, exacerbating the noise regs flat spot in 2nd and 3rd, popping
banging and farting on the overrun and running very lean at the top end.

With the end piece in, the oil hit 100C, like it usually does on that little
run. With it out, it hit 108C and the engine smelt very hot.

So, in short, it is well made, easy to fit and with the end piece in place
it doesn't bollocks the fuelling or the performance. No real performance
gains, but it looks good and I like it. Oh yeah, they included a sample of
some very nice Kendal Mint Cake. Made me smile anyway.

I see Fuel Exhausts get a lot of recommendations on the SV forum I
frequent. Everyone who's bought one has been impressed with the
quality of the products and customer service they have received. Even
the budget model they do is better than some high end stuff I've seen.
The Kendal Mint Cake is a nice touch as well.

  3. I watched that Gruff Rice Bones in a Kendal Mint Cake maker's on the box
a couple of weeks ago. Sugar, sugar, sugar, and some extra sugar with a
    bit of mint.

After my incident with the deer which dented the can, I had been
searching on ebay for a replacement. Then I saw the thread about Fuel
and ordered one on Friday night. Arrived Tuesday AM. Fitted Weds
evening. As everyone else seems to be saying, excellent customer service
via e-mail including sending photographs of the item fitted to same
    model of bike.

My only diappointment is the angle of the can - it is too low (see e.g.
    http://tinyurl.com/ys9nst ) - the original was at a steeper angle -
looked far more attractive like that. This lower position is fine if you
    have panniers but I don't....

Fuel don't do an alternative bracket - anyone here able to manufacture
    one for me??

    Would they fit a trophy?
I'd like to change the stock pipes for something a little throatier.

    <snip>

Fitted mine last night, they are well made. I could have saved myself the
£10 postage, but didn't realise they where just in Kendal (hence the free
mint cake). The Blackbird sounds a little deeper. Baffles are riveted in
the budget ones, I drilled one out, but still couldn't remove the baffle. I
thought its best to try them with the baffles before resorting to brut force
    and ignorance.

SWMBO said the original ones looked better \

Not had time to test them on a run yet, I spent the rest of the evening
checking my nuts (one more loose one and no dust caps).

Kendal covered in chocolate. What a pleasant image.
I must go and find my DVD of The Good Life.
