I have a 1988 VFR700. I was wondering if anyone would know, or be able to
point me in the direction of knowing, what the size of the fuel tank and
    reserve is?

When I bought the bike the owner gave me the manual
    (service;repair;maintenance) for the VFR700F & VFR750F 1986 - 1994. I have
checked _every single page_ and it tells you every specification for the
bike (half of which I don't understand) but it doesn't mention fuel tank
size or, in particular, reserve size.

I am planning a trip and would rather not have to run it all dry and then
push to a service station to find out :)

    Thanks.

    Proc.

    That's your simplest solution.
Put a litre of petrol in a Coke bottle, pack it in your backpack, set your trip meter when you hit reserve and
    then run it dry.
That'll give you the distance (which is the useful measurement) and when you ride to a garage you'll know the
    tanksize within a litre.

Just for your reference, that's now illegal in NSW and the ACT.

  5. I'm intrigued with this thread. Never knew there was such a beast as a
VFR700 - did it get to Australia directly? Or is a grey import?

    Cheers

  6. It would be an import from the US. When the US govt put tariff protection
on motorcycles over 750cc capacity to protect HD, a few of the Jap
manufacturers made 700cc versions of their 750cc bikes.

I think it's illegal in Qld too.
(But so is changing your own tap washers)

Really. My housing lease says the tenant is responsible for tap washers. Qld
    strikes again!

Illegal unless you're a licenced plumber as far as I'm aware.
(I think it's to do with the integrity of the water-supply so if you're not on "town" water it probably
    doesn't apply)
....or it could be an urban myth!
