  1. Well that's exactly my point, how can you lose control of something you
never had control of in the first place? Therefore to laugh is not to lose
    control.

But it's nearly always a controlled reaction. Deliberate. Voluntary. I
just made myself laugh a second ago, while remaining in complete
    control.
It makes the body feel good. Seriously, smiling and laughing really
does relax the body and generate a sense of well-being. You do
sometimes come across as a miserable bugger, in that it seems you're
always looking on the bad side of things - laughing at these things
really can help to feel better about life and focus on the positives.
You can't see any humour in that? I wasn't there, but I can easily see
how that could be vastly amusing when you're using the Swiss rail
network. And if something amuses you, why not laugh at it?
    Heh.

Hardly. My money's on pissed up and/or taking the piss. Paul - or
Judith Carmers as I've suddenly got the urge to nickname him- had
"ostensibly dour" cornered at least since I've been here. Makes I laugh
    anyway, for what it's worth.

You lol more than any bloke I've ever met[1], so I can see why you're
battling your corner in this thread.

[1] Are you sure you didn't used to be a burd?

Laughing is a natural thing. It's got very little do to with losing
    control (unless it's hysterical laughing).

FFS, even my 6mo daughter laughs when she's enjoying herself.

I meant in real life. I tend to snigger in a Mutley stylee, whereas you
lol (with emphasis on the 'ol').

  8. Heh. Whenever I've "relaxed my control" I've woken up with some strange
    burd.

By the way, I'm not having a pop (as I'm sure you realise), but I
genuinely don't understand laughter. I must be repressed or something.
Like I said, I have laughed, but only "uncontrollably".

Anyway, happy birthday to me. I'm celebrating with toast and marmalade.

As I said in another post in that reply to Champ I've had a few laughs
with you at trackdays/night before trackdays.

  13. Well, I remember you asking to walk back to a hotel rather than be sick
in my car. Very polite but hardly a laugh. Half a pint of Guinness,
    wasn't it?

But yes, I think you may have coaxed a grin out of me.

If that was Donnington I think you'll find it was food poisoning.
I'm maintaining that you have a fine, healthy SOH regardless what your
craggy old stone face would appear to indicate.
