There's every possibility it won't work as advertised, but I'd STILL rather
    have it than not.

Thixotropic I think. At least that's what the flexible until clbbered
"contact" adhesive is called and it works on a simliar principle to my
    untrained eye.

    Surely that's non-drip?

    I suspect you mean dilatant:

Bad form and all that, but I've just remembered the name of the glue.
    "Thixofix"

It may well be the same Platy, but there's definitely a thixotropic adhesive
which is used where normally a pure contact adhesive would be used, but
where a certain "slideability" would be welcome. I've used it on the past,
but it wasn't as good as the more common Evo-stik although it did what it
said on the tin: i.e slide a bit then after a small "whack" it was solidly
    afixed.

A thixotropic substance decreases in viscosity over time. In a dilatant
substance, viscosity increases with the rate of shear. I don't think the
characteristics you describe are typical of a thixotropic fluid.

"Thixofix is thixtropic. It is a gel, similar to non-drip paint, so it
spreads like butter. It does not spill and cuts out the mess normally
    associated with ordinary contact adhesives."

Nothing about hitting it that I can see.

  13. The monotreme is right - I meant dilatant. The pikiwedia page even
mentions its use in body armour..

That was John Tickle, not RH, on Brainiac. RH is just the main

Tis where he made his name (if you can call it that). His rendition of
Hotel California is worth Googling for. It's...err... 'different'.

Yeah, I knew that. I enjoy Brainiac in the main - it is a bit of a

some of it's great, but some is tedious - I particular can't stand the
"which is better: fat or thin" etc. type segments.
