I am going to the rally this weekend. It will be cold, but they for sure
need the support. Hope to see you there.

I think it will be in the mid 60's here. I like putting on warm clothes and
    riding anyway.

All right, I will post about it. I was not feeling well, and could not ride
the bike all day. I told Cookie something just was not right about taking
the Hyundai to a motorcycle rally. She told me to shut up and drive. She has
no shame. I did have my doo rag on though to show people on bikes that
passed us that I was a brother.

We went to the rally and it was windy as hell going up. A strong headwind
for all that rode. Saw the usual compliment of Harley's broken down on the
side of the road. Not all were Choppers. Most of them were factory. Saw the
usual compliment of Clear Lake and other area police giving tickets to
    everyone they could as well.

I was hungry when I got there, so I settled on a corn dog and 32 oz Coke.
Cost me 10 dollars. I am happy to contribute to the rebuilding cause but a 5
dollar soda hurt me a little. Got a couple of nice, free t-shirts, so I
    guess I broke even.

Saw some fantastic looking women, some really good looking women, women like
what we married, some ugly women and a lot of skanks showing their fat saggy
tits and fat flopping bellies hanging out. It was a little cool for tit
showing, so the quality tit shows were rare while I was there.

I don't know of the total amount of people there, but it looked like a good
showing of bikers even though a lot of toy runs were going on this time of
    year.

Unlike New Orleans, Galveston has cleaned up most of the debris in a short
period of time and not whined that somebody else do it for them. But some is
still there needing to be picked up.

Galveston has for years looked run down and grimy. What is left of it looks
    even worse now.

I went by one of the Projects, and it was fenced off. All those people are
here in Houston getting a free ride still.

A nurse at the hospital last week told me that her brother in law from
Galveston is in a FEEMA house in Katy that is worth around 200,000 and pays
nothing. Plus other free handouts he is getting. A lot of New Orleans people
are still living free and near free as well. I wonder if the people that get
their homes burned down, tornado blown away and regular flooded get all that
free govment stuff. I bet not.

Galveston had a meeting yesterday to determine what needed to be done to
revitalize. If I would have been there, I would recommend they condemn at
least 85% of what is left and bulldoze it down 6" below foundation level.
That would give them a fresh start that is needed so badly by immediately
raising property values since all the slums and near slums would be gone.
Developers could then build some upscale housing without a Project or crack
    house next door.

Cookie thinks they need to host some kind of bike rally every month to bring
    some money in.

Either way, it needs a good cleaning and coat of paint.

They don't have much revenue producing business in Galveston. In my opinion,
they need to really clean it up, decide on making it tourist
friendly/attractive and offer major tax incentives to labor using business
to locate there. As they will soon have to face fully (hopefully), is who
wants to visit, live and work in a slum? That is mostly what Galveston has
become. It has not aged well at all.

I lived in Galveston for a year @ '89 or 90. Visited again last summer.
Believe it or not, it HAD actually improved over what it was in the
early 90's. It didn't just look like a slum back then, it was a slum.
