I'd blame Agent again, but I suspect the real culprits may be Virgin
    Media.

indeed. When I used to do runs to Calais for wine (it's no longer
really economically viable), it wouldn't have been unusual for me to
have had >500 bottles of wine in stock (A. used to also drink wine
before she switched to the Belgian beers).

    I've:
    58 bottles of wine
    4 cans of John Smiths

I appear to have ran out of Leffe.

Quite. I think I peaked at around 90 bottles (which looked dead classy
with a 56-bottle rack and a couple of cardboard boxes stacked next to
it) but add on the two shelves of assorted spirits and the stack of
crates of beer in the kitchen and I almost had enough to get me through
    the week.

  10. Whereas I have a few dozen bottles of wine, a dwindling supply of
English Ale and supermarkets stacked full of Dutch/Belgian beers at
    reasonable prices[1].

    <thinks>

That's only one step away from having a VMI. I wonder......

[1] sometimes the beer is the cheapest bottled drink they have - often
less than soft drinks and bottled water.

    down.

It's quite a lot of beer to keep the same. A section of maybe 20, I'd
    not think about.

    Yes, to 50mg.

I think that still makes it possible to have a meal and a pint and drive
    home legally.

I rarely have more than a case of beer in the house. When it's done I go buy
    another.

    a) A. drinks Leffe - pretty much all she drinks

    b) normally it's around £5.80 for a four pack

    c) recently Tesco and Asda have had it on offer for £4 for a four
pack, so I've bought all they had in stock each time I've been in the
    store.

That's a hell of a lot of space to tie up, merely to save 45p/bottle...

    I have a large(ish) house.

And anyway, I'm "only following orders".
