The last time I saw anyone drinking it in Oz was on a Murri community in
the gulf of Carpentaria in the 80's. Desperation stuff.

  3. I've had Coopers ales before and seem to remember them being quite
    drinkable....

Then at least one of us has either:
    1) No taste in beer (or at least like very different things)
    2) Lousy memories.

Possibly. Either that or you have both ;)

My more recent drinking habits have been:

    Three Tuns 1642
    Bombardier
    Fursty Ferret
    Tanglefoot
    Waggle Dance
    Old Speckled Hen
    Black Sheep
    Black Sheep Riggwelter
    Spitfire
    Bishops Finger
    Assorted Wychwoods
    Herstbok (from Grolsch)
    Leffe
    Affligem
    Duvel
    Westmalle Dubbel / Tripel
    Chimay Blue

I don't know how that would be considered as 'taste in beer' but it
might give you an idea if we like similar stuff, or not.

That wouldn't surprise me at all :)

Pretty clearly. One of us is heading to premature senility. I have a
nasty feeling it might be me.

  9. Hmm, there's some pretty harsh scoring in there, IMHO.... What's on the
    top of your list then?

    It's just posh Stella ffs.
That's part of its charm - it's something like 8.5% but doesn't taste
anything like it. Never did a beer more deserve its name.

Most of the Wychwood stuff I adore. Also much of St Peter's.

Some new ones I found last night: Pitfield

Their Organic Lager and Wheat Beer were sampled last night, and found to
    be good.

I thought it was stronger even than that, more like 12%, but you are
    correct.

Problem is I think it *does* taste like it's that strong.
    fx: adds to list.

I didn't see Chimay Tripel in the list. Remember that when you're
shopping too. It's been my favourite for a long time.

Nah, for something that strong you need a Rochefort 10 or a Kwak.

It's not exactly a session beer, mind.

And that reminds me, I need to get off my arse and pay Higgins a visit.
He's had that beer over a year now and I owe him some money. Unless he's
    drunk it, anyway.

Only because when I went to Windows 7 it was already installed. To be
honest, I thought it was the same program with a few tweaks.
Well I'd say the most popular was the one used by the most people and
definitely not the one used to post the most messages.
    G2 it is then.

I told the wife and she said she's really looking forward to me being even
    more fucking miserable.

Like that's going to bother me.

The nicest beer I drank in Oz was Boag's.

Here in Boston I have been mainly drinking Sam Adams' Summer Ale.

The only beers I remember drinking in Aus were Carlton Cold, which was
an acceptable bottled glugging lager of no real note. And Carlton
Crown which was pretty much an Australian Becks..

Didn't take to VB, as it tasted odd to me.
