Garage clear-up update

  1. It is *so* hard throwing stuff out. I took a big plastic bag into the
garage with me, and decided to be ruthless. The devil on my shoulder did
    its best to dissuade me.

Me: "This is a pair of inner tube security bolts. I took them out
because they were utterly useless and superfluous on the Z650 in whose
    rims I found them."

Devil: "But they might come in handy...."

Me: "No! Begone, foul security bolts!"

Me: "This is a box of brand new pattern cables for 1970s lightweight
two-strokes. As they don't have part numbers or labels, I have no idea
what they fit. I have had them for over 10 years. Out they go."

Devil: "No, you might need them. What if you buy a ShiteOldSuzukiGT that
needs new cables? You'll be sorry you threw them out then."

Me (wavering): "You're tight, you know...."

Devil (smugly): "I know. So just put the box back where it came from."

Me: "No! No! In ten years I have not had the slightest desire to own a
Suzuki GT250, GT185 or some horrible air-cooled Yamaha RD. Lozzo forgive
me, but into the rubbish bag they go."

    Devil: "Sob!"

    Me: "You mean SOB, surely?"

Me: "This is a collection of old rubber grommets. I don't know why I
bothered saving them, let alone putting them in a box to themselves, but
    their hour has come...."

Devil: "OK, I'll grant you that one...."

And so it went on. In between times, I managed to fix the loose ignition
connection on the SL125, and run up the 400 Four for 20 minutes to put
fresh fuel in the carbs, and then I stufk it on the battery charger.

And then Timo happened by, in search of some odd 400 Four component, and
I remembered: it was at the very bottom of a large stack of plastic
    crates......
