I have a Garmin iQue M5 sat nav which comes with a full car kit.

Does anyone know where / how I could get a bike kit for it?

RAM cradle for an iQue 3600 + whatever you'd need to get the cradle on to
the bars, ie top ball for the cradle, short arm + handlebar or mirror
mount. Make waterproof using a sandwich bag and elastic band.

No affiliation with them other than I bought my GPS unit and mounting
hardware from them. They delivered next day.

Any downsides to this approach (aside from the obvious risk that your
    sandwiches get soggy instead)?

Not really, moist munchables aside. The bags are clear and flexible so you
can use the PDA pretty much as normal. As there is usually a fair bit of
room in the bags, it allows the GPS antenna to be extended. The downside is
it looks pikey. Cheap and effective though.

An alternative is an Otter Box. Brilliant aside from you can't easily access
the PDA nor is it easy to run an audio cable out and as for extending the
antenna on the Garmin units, forget it.

Well if you did so well why did you ask in the first place?
Also with your recent cycling activities it was unclear if it was for the
    bike or the Bike.
