Tolls waived on Gateway and Logan Motorways

Queensland Motorways is waiving all tolls on the Gateway and Logan
motorways from 12 midday on Wednesday 12 January 2011 until further notice.

Acting Chief Executive Officer John Gardiner said the Gateway and Logan
motorways were unaffected by flood inundation.

“I encourage all motorists to use the motorways at no cost as a reliable
means of travel during this flood crisis, particularly in emergency
    situations,” he said.

“The Gateway Motorway is open between Nudgee and the Pacific Motorway,
whilst the Logan Motorway is open between the Pacific Motorway and the
    Gailes/Camira exit in the west.”

With the Ipswich Motorway now closed, westbound traffic on the Logan
Motorway is being detoured at the Gailes/Camira exit.

Mr Gardiner said motorists should take care in the wet conditions and
follow all road signage in place.

Further information will be posted on http://www.govia.com.au

    as it becomes available.

  3. Makes you want to just go backward and forward across the Gateway all day,
    just to get something back

Is the Clem 7 tunnel still dry?

It looks pretty bad on TV from here.
Meanwhile we had some arsehole light a fire near Clifton which has taken out
ten houses so far. It was lit at seven points.

I was curious about that myself (but not curious enough to go have a look!).
The Inner-City Bypass (adjacent to the north end of the Clem7) got a fair
    bit of water in it.
Yeah; I thought that might've been near your patch.

no idea , never used it but wait until the morning when the big king
    tide hits
Iy might be kinda wet as in '74 the southern entrance area was under a
lot of water , there is no power there atm so if the pump circuit fails
    it's goodnight

  7. Indeed - but even free, this little black duck reckons that road is right
up there with Sydney's F3 in the lethality stakes, and avoids it like the
    plague, free dose or otherwise.

  9. Shades of the "Robert Miller" 1974.
Seen that tanker about occasionally - Last ship built in Brisbane and I've
a hunch it's a lucky one at that.
IIRC, it had been launched and was tied up alongside for fit-out at Evans
    Deakin Kangaroo Point.
Anyhow, the 'flood' - not a fucken inundation - arrived, and the bugger
ripped out it's moorings, and turned around in about its own length.

IMHO, this is Very Good piece of writing and the detail is simply amazing.
I found it because I was a tad hazy on the name of the EDI tanker despite
having seen it every time I went South on the Bridge for years. Duh.
    Glad I did.
Note the reference to Wivenho and the New Farm Walkway at the end:)
For some reason a Google Cached version is all that's available.

If they are too involved they're in the way. If they're not involved
enough they're ignoring the plight of the electorate. God help anyone
    to find the right balance.

  18. Yes, well - GovCo was diverting Eastbounders on the Brisbane to Ipswich
Carpark onto the Bogan Motorway yesterday morning.
Since it's been recently 'arranged' that no-bastard except users of the
stretch from Beaudesert Road to Wembley Road and vice versa, the penny
evidentely dropped and someone in a position of some authority fleetingly
developed something normally completely foreign to them - a conscience.
But face facts, that slamming us by in excess of triple the toll in one hit
will take fucken CENTURIES of suckholeing by the CriminalGovCo to relieve
bad blood out here in wheel twirlers land. And then some. Trust me on that.

And lets not **** about here - ALL the private activity to get stuff to
high ground/relatives and friends places was ALL OVER BY THEN, and it won't
be forgotten that the Criminal GovCo did ****-all to assist WRT to Tolls at
that stage - the very point where assistance was needed. Remember, the
tolls will be back on sooner than you think. There's a bonanza there
because of road damage and cleanup elsewhere remembering for the most part,
recovery works will be a commerical enterprise. Flood Victims are not all
    building trades people. Duh..

Listened to one Govt stooge saying that he hopes they won't see a huge
increase in building costs like they did after the Ferny Hills storm

    HAH fat chance

As has become obvious during this weeks hard times is the very obvious
flaw some people carry , just like those at Oxley moments ago figuring a
little looting /tea leafing off a site is harmless
The"shrinkage" most builders experience and pass to their clients is
    well beyond the pale
