The points count towards the totting up for the usual 12 points in three
    years and you're out.
So Drunk in Charge could get you ten points *BUT* no ban.
Meant I had to be *REALLY* good boy for three years because any infringement
    would
have got me an auto 12 month ban under the totting up scheme.

They stayed on the licence for ten years.

IF I had copped for another DD code in that ten years I would be treated as
    *Habitual*
by the magistrate and punishment is increased.

Third *over the limit* got matey boy a two year ban with a full retest at
    the end, points
on his licence for all three offences still showing. The shame of a thirty
    year criminal history.

But to answer the question, Yes DD stuff remains on your licence for ten
    years from
    date of conviction.

It seems to me that matey boy gpt off comparatively lightly. One of
the builders that get in the pub (there's a bunch of them, in most
days between three and four who have four or five pints and drive home
for dinner about six) who had an inadvertent accident on the way home.

He'd been banned twice before - the first time 20 years ago for a
year, then five years ago for two years. This time, a car stopped to
turn right without indicating in front of him. He stopped about a
foot from the back bumper - then a bird in a Volvo smacked into the
back of him without even touching the brakes. This pushed his Jeep
into the back of the car turning right - into the path of an oncoming
    van.

Four crunched vehicles on a busy road, plenty of witnesses including a
mate of mine. Much Police attendance and breathalysing all round. He
was found to be just under twice the limit, arrested and appeared in
    Court the next morning.

The fine was 350 quid, the ban three years - and he was locked up for
four months (six, minus good behaviouir remission). A bit late home
    from the pub ...
    It does, indeed.

  3. My local publican (as the registered keeper of the vehicle) received a
NIP for exceeding 30 in a 30 limit. It arrived just after he went on two
    weeks holiday.

On his return he contacted the authorities and explained he had been
away and as it was now several weeks ago he honestly didn't know who was
driving the vehicle. Could he had a photograph.
Photograph is sent of the back of the vehicle with no indication as to
who was driving. He and his SO both use the same car for numerous
journeys on that stretch of road each day.

He was told it didn't matter he had to name some one. He asked if he
should lie about it then as he didn't know. That didn't go down well so
on the form they said they were both driving the car at the time and
reference a covering letter explaining everything and included the
sentence that as they were not prepared to lie to satisfy the
authorities they would therefor both admit to the offence.

That was a month ago and it's gone quiet.

If I hear anything I'll post it.

As should speeders and those cunts who park illegally. No traffic
offense is worth a life ban. A few years and a re-test I'd agree with
but why shouldn't drivers get the same chance to prove they've changed
    their ways as murderers?
