Gatso's

On the A 505 through Letchworth I have noticed that an additional
device, possibly another camera of lighting device, has been installed
next to each fixed Gatso camera, in each case it points in the same
direction at a slightly sharper angle than the original camera,
possibly "seeing" or illuminating the side of passing vehicles.
Any one seen one anywhere else and know what it is?

    Googling doesn't yield anything.

Don't think so, they have the Gatso logo on the side, and they are
much bigger than an ANPR camera,
I'll try to get a picture tomorrow and post it.

There's no traffic lights near them so I don't think its that.

So, they bought cheapo digital cameras that don't work in the dark and had
    to retrofit extra illumination. Fuckwits.

A few more NSLs to 50 limits to pay for it no doubt.

  20. Swindon Borough council (now Conservative I believe) has a policy of
scrapping speed cameras. Whether that translates to action I have no
    idea[1].

    Phil.

[1] I know I don't see any on my route to/from work - not even the
regular mobile ones that used to be set up on Thamesdown Drive.
