It's a lot to do with busybodies and wrinklies who have the time and
inclination to infest local councils. Talk to community cops and it comes
up all the time, wrinklies demanding ever slower and quieter traffic, above
almost everything else bar keeping bleecks off the village streets.

 

Umm...possibly the fact that it's on common land?

Countries need to be run by people who send their kids away to boarding
school and love Tupping and killing furry/feathered animals.

Have you considered spray painting the sign "It is the parent's fault" and
leaving dolls with nails through their heads cable tied to the railings?

We should have Jaywalking legislation like the Merkins.

 

Something similar happened in Swindon - two kids playing on the
pavement decided to run out into the road without bothering to look.
Right in front of an oncoming bus. I ex-kid and one with serious
injuries.

Rather than placing the blame where it belongs (the kids and their
parents) there was a lot of agitation to slow the traffic down along
that road to "protect the children". And since it was in a 30 zone that
would have meant having a 20mph limit along a (fairly busy) main road.

Which (in a burst of rare common sense) got dropped pretty quickly.

Well, I give not a fig for the problems of you, the common pleb.
I shall soon be above such minor concerns as I'm about to join
the ranks of the super rich according to this 'ere letter
(actually addressed to me personally) I have received from Malaga.
Appararently as a participating finalist in the Bonoloto Loteria,
I have won a share of the total prize fund of one hundred and ten
million euros. Odd thing is, I don't even remember entering, funny
old world.

I shall complete the "payment processing form" forthwith.
Including all requested banks details, the fax it to the supplied
telephone number immediately.

First time I've seen an actual snail mail version of this.

 

Same 'round here' pretty much. One or two interesting routes have
survived fortunately.

What we need are hordes of naughty little niggers and white meat trailer
trash cutting swathes of terror through their towns and villages. Lots of

cats and dogs being butchered. That should give them something better to
