Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, steve auvache
Doesn't everyone have one of those[1] in their garage?

[1] OK, slight exaggeration. Mine is 3HP and 1.5 tons...

My dad mate a solid-metal-bodied electic guitar in his mid-teens.

It was literally too heavy to play on the lap so had to be laid flat on the
table like a pedal steel guitar.

I understand my Dad was very impressed with the sound and, in particular,
the sustain. His sister told me strummed it for the first time and said
"Wow! Gosh! That's splendid! I'm totally delighted."

Perhaps that was the equivalent of "WOAH! FUCKING HELL DUDE! THAT'S AWESOME!
    I'M TOTALLY STOKED!"

Yeah, I followed that link from your mortar post too. I'm lost for
words over the beauty of the finish.
Quite. My Yamaha SG2000 used to give me real backache after a couple
of hours. One of the great things about super-strat style guitars is
    they're so light.

So you'd be more likely to make a ukulele?
