  1. "My personal opinion is that we should go to Finland, all those Arab
countries and just blow them up, kill them."

Yeah, that amused me too, wlthough TBH I was more perturbed by the
idea that one terrorist attack, albeit particularly bad, would be used
to justify the total annihalation of hundreds of millions of people.

With that strength of reaction it's little wonder that dubya had no
problem gaining support for what they actually did.

  5. All that aside, the bit that really struck me was the sight of the fresh
clean firemen, after the first tower had collapsed, setting off to scale
    the second one.
    FUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK THAT.

We didn't need the terrorist attack.

That explains why they parked the fire engines several streets away and
were walking in with their hoses and gear. That would have given them
enough time to assess the situation properly.

that's what i heard it as as well, although h believes it was "bin laden"
    rather than "finland".

Possible, I suppose. But was his name already that commonly used in
    the US before this time?

  11. I wonder if that lot went up anyway. They certainly looked like they
    were shitting it.

I've got a heavy duty disliking of a lot of things about America but
the cops and firemen who risked their lives in those towers were a lot
    braver than I'll ever be.

  13. Ah, it was probably "Binland", a mythical country full of wheeled
    contrivances to cart rubbish in.

  14. Ditto that. If I could, I'd have been waving my arms in front of them
    shouting 'Stop!'.

Hmm that picture of the fireman climbing the stairs sticks in my mind.
It's one of those that's imho up there like that one of the little girl
running away from the napalm in Vietnam.

<googles> blimey, if this is true, that sucks for him.
