Just posted a clip of Melandri/Abe crash from last weekend...
    http://www.thisstupidurl.com/Melandri-Abe-crash.wmv (<2mb).
The director of the TV feed deserves some sort of commendation for his
abilities. In the space of about 1 lap, Rossi went from the lead to 4th
place, and he managed to miss each and every position change. When he lost
first place they were showing the onboard view from 4th place. He lost 2nd
place while they were showing the replay of the Biaggi pass, then lost 3rd
place while they were showing the replay of Barros passing.

  2. Did Melandri's bike actually hit Abe's? I'm not convinced it wasn't a
    sympathy crash..

Yeah it does look like Abe was getting slightly sideways just before he comes
off.. but I think he must have hit Melandri's bike because he didn't really
seem to get too out of shape before he got bucked. Melandri had hit the dirt
on exactly the same corner on the previous lap too IIRC.

    Off thread I know.

Can anyone explain the change in firing order on Barros' bike. And how
it makes it faster ? I am not sure about this.

I think I've grasped the Ducati twin pulse.

I watched it half a dozen times after the race and I don't think they
touched (although motogp.com said they did).
I'll wait for AMCN for the definitive answer!

    Erk that's a freaky crash! (Team-mates too!)

It reminds me of the "synchronised swimming" crash of Doohan and Chili back
about 1989. (Which I couldn't find a link to but which used to always be
shown on Wide World of Sports etc)

Heh. I couldn't believe the timing, either. Poor bastard probably felt
like biting a luger, I hope.

    Thanks for the clip.

Actually I slowed that clip down to about 1/50th of it's normal speed and I
reckon they didn't touch too. Has anyone else noticed that Rossi seems to
lose time on the straights when his Yamaha wheelies. I saw it in previous GPs
as well. Noone else seems to be getting the front wheel off the tarmac down
the straights. Wonder what it is about his bike/style which is causing this
    to happen.
